The prophet and the false gods: Better, therefore, is someone upright who has no idols. Letter of Jeremiah 1:72

The letter of Jeremiah is a text attributed to this famous prophet where the problem of idolatry is related, and what God had determined with the Jews exiled to Babylon.
And the letter begins with these words, remembering that the path of sin is a misfortune: "Because of the sins that you have committed before God, you will be taken to Babylon as exiles by Nebuchadnezzar, king of the Babylonians" Letter of Jeremiah 1:1.
According to the prophet, God had determined that the Jews would remain for up to seven generations until he let them return, and during this time they should be alert and not imitate the customs of the idolaters. And the prophet explained this with an intention, idolatry is the mother of all other sins.
Jeremiah's letter insists that false gods cannot save or bless because they are the fruit of human imagination, and therefore false gods should not be feared. There is only one true God, the God of Abraham, and he alone is to be feared, only he can bless and save.
These teachings of the prophet are very similar to what the prophet Daniel taught, when he refused to worship the golden statue and was sent to a furnace by the King of Babylon.
Jeremiah ended his letter by teaching that idolatry is typical of fools and those who walk in darkness, and that in the end, it is ,in any case, better to be an upright man who does not follow idols:
"Like a scarecrow in a cucumber bed that guards nothing, so are their gods of wood, overlaid with gold and silver. In the same way, their gods of wood, overlaid with gold and silver, are like a thornbush in a garden on which every bird perches or like a corpse thrown out in the darkness. From the purple and linen that rot upon them you will know that they are not gods, and they will finally be consumed themselves and be a reproach in the land. Better, therefore, is someone upright who has no idols; such a person will be far above reproach" Letter of Jeremiah 1:69-72.
