The discovery of a new population from a possible is not something very special. But, this time the researchers found a group of strange fish population.

This fish is called weird because it has bright red skin with a mohawk fins on their heads. In addition, they also have fingerlike fins on the sides of their bodies that make them seem to "walk" on the seabed.

This strange new fish population was discovered last week by divers from the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) and the Reef Life Survey (RLS) science project. This fish is known to group about 20 to 40 tail.

Previously, scientists discovered similar fish populations in Frederick Henry Bay, off the southeast coast of Tasmania island, Australia. The newly discovered population is several kilometers away from the first group.

Unfortunately, they do not want to tell the exact location of the discovery of this new population. That's because they aim to protect this group of fish.

Quoted from Live Science, Thursday (25/01/2018), each fish population is living in a two-sized tennis court. This fish residence area called the researchers is relatively small, because the mohawk fish is relatively little moving and swimming.

Uniquely, they do not swim but instead walk on the seabed with pectoral fin like a hand, said the divers.

"This fish is almost the most rare fish in the world," said Rick Stuart-Smith, a scientist at IMAS quoted from Newsweek, Wednesday (24/01/2018).
