New York City Accelerator and Incubator Programs (1)

Since I pay a great deal of attention to the New York City tech and startup scene it might be useful to share some of this info with you. In a series of postings I’ll provide links and basic info on New York city accelerators, incubators, and other support organizations for startup and early stage companies. Below are a few that focus on urban tech:

1776

1776 is a global network support startups to digitally transform critical industries. They are both a co-working space and a Seed Stage investment company.

URBAN-X
6 month program with up to 10 companies and investments up to $100,000. For companies working on the challenges faced by cities, including transportation, real estate, local government, local services and utilities.

GCT Accelerator
Rent free. Zero equity taken. (that’s not a typo) The catch? Commit to stay in the building for 1 year, post program, if it would not hurt your business. That seems more than fair and affords you the continued peer support of their co-working space.

Dreamit Urban Tech
14 week virtual and in person hybrid program. For startups with market-ready products. Companies should be post-seed, pre-series A with traction.

Urban Tech NYC
Sector Focus: Energy, Mobility, Waste, Built Environment

Urban Future Lab
Umbrella group that includes ACRE, a business incubator program, PowerBridgeNY that commercializes research from local universities, and Clean Start, an NYU diploma program for people seeking to join the CleanTech sector

This post is intended to make you aware of these groups and let you continue to research them on your own. Please leave me suggestions how I can make future posts more useful. Thanks!
