Xinhua News Agency, Washington, March 22 (Reporter Liu Chen, Liu Pinran) The US Treasury Department announced on the 22nd that it will impose sanctions on 14 individuals and 17 entities in Iran.

The U.S. Treasury Department issued a statement on the same day saying that these individuals and entities are related to Iran’s defense innovation and research organizations. The organization has provided support to Iranian defense entities sanctioned by the United States. The US State Department listed the organization on the sanctions list in 2014.

According to the statement, according to relevant regulations, the assets of the sanctioned individuals and entities in the United States will be frozen, and US citizens may not trade with them.

In May 2018, the US government announced that it would withdraw from the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue reached by the relevant parties in 2015, and the US subsequently gradually restarted sanctions against Iraq. The Iranian side strongly condemned the US sanctions. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on the 21st that Iran will take the necessary measures to counter the US economic sanctions.
