The thumb drive is supposed to be 512gb. However that does not account for the space used up by built in software. It’s around 470-480 if you take everything into consideration. Write and read times aren’t overall too impressive but they work. You could potentially format the thumb drive and get more storage out of it, but if you’re just looking to store documents and other files that you don’t want your wife or kids finding you should be set.

SanDisk USB 3.0 Flash Drives are still my go-to for portable storage and for using as Linux live boot sticks. They have proven to be the most reliable, long-lasting drives for my needs. They will typically maintain their read and write speeds better than their competition. Even if they have an occasional hiccup with re-formatting, we can usually use a couple of Linux tricks to refresh the drive and get it back to normal. The speed of this drive is excellent. Unfortunately I have two issues with the build quality.
1.) The USB 3.0 connector is very tight and I have had a real struggle fitting it in to several of my devices.
2.) Because of the tightness of the connector the slider/catch that holds the USB head forward is almost useless and occasionally gives way and allows the head to be pushed back inside the body when being inserted. So I now have to hold the slider forward with my thumb whenever I'm trying to insert it just in case it's pushed back. Of course the USB connectors on some devices are upside down so I have to do this from underneath the drive. It's ironic since some of my older USB drives had sliders that were way too stiff to move back and forth frequently. So I'm now looking for USB thumb drives that don't have any sliders. They never work well!
I've used a lot of storage drives over the past few years, and SanDisk products never fail to disappoint me.

This drive is so user friendly. My computer had no problems opening or closing it, and I managed to transfer many Gigabytes worth of data to it very quickly. There's been no problems with any of the data being corrupted or lost.
Although Sandisk drives tend to be a little more on the expensive side, the quality and reliability of the product is worth the extra money.
