Microblogging. Means that you write in no over than 280 characters about something you are interested on, and we call that text a “tweet” and the verb is “to tweet”. There are three way to interact with your tweet, write a reply to a tweet, like a tweet and there is retweet it.

Although retweeting a tweet can possibly tell that you agree with the content of the tweet, it can also mean that you want to voice it over to your followers to get some opinions and insights. You can also “subtweet” which is basically retweeting a tweet with given ability to write a comment, and the feature will display the tweet and your comment above it.

You can reply to your own tweet creating a “thread” which means that you add more to your first, you can add as much as you want of relevant tweets to your original tweet. Twitter was first to introduce the ability to follow people, which made it unique.

For example, people can follow you because they are interested in the content you share, without the necessity of you following them back, which is optional if you are not interested in the content they share. Two of other most useful features of Twitter is Trends and Hashtags. Trends are certain words and phrases that appear in a list based on how many people are talking about that subject, based on location or tailored which means based on who you follow and again your location.

Hashtags are words or abreviations, sometimes a combination of both that start with #, it is a feature that allow you to adress directly to the subject you are talking, and not necessarily mention it as a whole name in the tweet. This makes looking up subjects and joining discussion easier and focused.
