Add transported ressources to fleet view

in utopian-io •  7 years ago  (edited)

Components

Fleet screen in the open source browser game steemnova.

Proposal

In the open source browser game steemnova it is possible to send ressources from one colony to an other one. In the fleet view it is possible to see the ships currently transportig ressources, incuding the starting and the ending planet and the departure and arrival times. It is not possible to see what kind of and how many ressources are currently under transport.

Mockups / Examples

Benefits

Players would not have longer the need to keep ressources currently under transport in mind and responsiveness of the game would be increased.

I think when player puts in the material to transport they know how much is being moved, but when too much time elapses it sure is difficult to remember. Yet player receive's a message when delivery has reach destination. Thanks.

I think it would be really helpfull keeping this information available for the player, as it would allow him to have full control over supply lines without too much additional book keeping. In the case that a trasnport has to revoked, there is currently no way to decide which one of possibly two has to be revoked, given that both are flying the same route.

Hello @rosatravels,

while the post isn't very long it does contain all needed informations if one is familiar with the game.

I'm helping with development for steemnova and I can understand what @a-dalora meant and I think it is a great idea that would bring real value to steemnova. It's the kind of thing that always felt very clumsy to do and really reduces usability.

You would always have to:

  1. go to the overview screen to see the ressources
  2. calculate the time the fleet will come back
  3. go back to the fleet screen
  4. search for the fleet with the exact same time as calculated before.
  5. this could be further complicated by the fact that you could have more than one fleet with pretty much the same times.

@a-dalora also said something along these lines in the comment above.

I think it would be really helpfull keeping this information available for the player, as it would allow him to have full control over supply lines without too much additional book keeping. In the case that a trasnport has to revoked, there is currently no way to decide which one of possibly two has to be revoked, given that both are flying the same route.

With the suggestion above we could just implement a little tooltip showing the currently transported ressources per fleet. (Thats how we do it pretty much everywhere else, so it wasn't even necessary to mention :) )

I think the lead developer @mys would also share my opinion.

The idea should deserve a reward, could you please reconsider your decision?

Thanks for doing a great job,
Martin

Thanks @mwfiae for your feedback. I understand what you are saying and how much you want to help the developer @mys on this project. What you can do is that you can go to their Github repository page and give them the above feedback. They would really appreciate this.

Utopian has its rules regarding rewards. Soon there will be new rules where project owners themselves will verify their own project's contribution from users.

We are now in transition stage. If you want to have this contribution reconsidered again, you can get in touch with our supervisor @knowledges who will be the community manager for suggestions. You need to go into Discord and go to #support channel to ask for reconsideration for this contribution to see if it deserves Utopian reward.

@rosatravels, I do not comply with your opinion. The given suggestion to an Open Source project is related to a significant technical aspect of the project, the suggestion does provide all the information and details for the requested features to be actualized.
Your comment does not give me any information about what you are thinking is missing, so I kindly ask you to clarify this point.
In one of your follow-up comments you'd mentioned @knowledges on the #support channel. I am not able to find any such channel on the utopian discord server. Maybe you can point me to the correct channel.
