Add "save" option in steemit

in utopian-io •  7 years ago  (edited)

Components

I suggest to add a Save Option in steemit. This will help both writers and users. With the new option users can save interesting posts to review later.

Proposal

The suggested feature will have the following process;

  1. Users see a "save" icon near the resteem icon on the post card.
  2. Users click the save icon and the post is saved, also the icon will be filled with the border color.
  3. There will be a "saved posts" option at users account dashboard as a tab like "comments".
  4. Users can find saved posts in this new tab.

Mockups / Examples

"Save" icons can be placed like this: (3.post is already saved)

"Saved Posts" can be placed on user account like this:

Benefits

1- Readers can save posts they have reviewed to remember and easily reach again when they need.
2- Readers can save posts on listing pages like "trending" to review later instead of opening with a new tab on browser.
3- I believe with this feature, posts which has good contents will be read and upvoted more.

I don't believe the block chain supports or is meant to save a list of your favorite posts. Something like steemit could save it in your browsers cache, but then again you could just simply use regular bookmarks which do practically the same.

actually it is not the same. with this mind why facebook or instagram use the feature :)

Facebook and Instagram work fundamentally differently, as they can save a list of posts to your account rather easily. Remember, if you want it saved to your account here it has to be part of the blockchain. You could in theory still encrypt it to not be publicly available, but at the very least it would add a lot of additional information being saved for very little benefit. From a more realistic standpoint facebook etc probably only offer this feature to get more insight into your browsing habits to begin with.
