Everyday internet users who create steem accounts increase. They come from different countries all over the world. But how much user accounts of each country? I think it's important to recognize the majority of users and where they come from.
In this analysis I try to discovering number of user accounts classify by country name. Tools, methods and scope of this analysis are as follows:
- Discovering number of Steem users approached by counting profile account search result containing the word country name, combined with post containing the tag 'Introduceyourself' also country name.
- Country name referring from Wikipedia
- Data accessed from SteemSql (created by @arcange), at UTC: 2017-12-20 09:58.
- Data extracted using HeidiSql as SQL Client App.

- Charts generated using MS Excel.
Results
With this analysis method, total user accounts that covered by country name matching is 47,678 from 512,668 (all Steem user accounts).

Conclusion
- The results cover only 9.30% from all users accounts in Steem.
- As we can see, top positions are coming from developing countries. First is India (7.98%), then Indonesia (7.61%), Venezuela (7.07%) and Nigeria (5.04%).
- The above result is a representation of where the Steem account originated.
That number is the result of my method. If anyone has a more accurate approach and any suggestions please let me know.

Great effort, but unfortunately, this kind of stat is all but accurate and therefore a bit useless.
Users can put what they want in the location field of their settings, even words like "somewhere" or "planet earth" (like I did).
We can just say that "3,806 users pretend coming from India or would like to be from India or love India or ..."
And I really can't believe there are far more users from India than from US!

Yup. From the query I did yesterday I got it's 357 users whose location after conversion to uppercase reads PLANET EARTH (51st most popular) ;) Higher is WORLDWIDE (778 users, 19th position) - right above my country's English name (POLAND, 735 users).
Another thing is USA is 2394 (5th), US - 664 (24th), CALIFORNIA - 728 (22nd), TEXAS - 486 (33rd) and few other US locations that have no "United States" in it's name, yet are used by more people.
Most common location that is not a country name is at 8th (ACEH, 1723 users), while INDONESIA is 6th with 2349 users). Most common city - LONDON with 1046 (14th), right behind UK (1108, 13th).

I think You are winning guys. I've looked at the data from database (checked today, 3-03-2018), although I used different approach. I aggregated self-reported user locations, converted to uppercase, so that the result is case insensitive.
"VENEZUELA" is currently #1 most common self-reported location with 5133 users, "INDIA" #2 with 3284, "INDONESIA" #6 with 2351, but...
...locations containing INDONESIA: 6811, containing either INDONESIA or ACEH 10281 (there are 1725 which read just "ACEH" - 8th most popular location) - above those containing VENEZUELA (8424), INDIA (only 4775) and UNITED STATES or USA (6243), althought there are also 728 whose location reads just "CALIFORNIA" (#22 most common), 607 just "LOS ANGELES" (#28), 516 just "FLORIDA" (#31) and so on.
If anyone is interested, I may share the whole data, although rather for fun than for firm conclusions (e.g. "EARTH" is #11 with 1299. That said, I see plenty of Indonesians here on Steemit. Greetings from "POLAND" (#20, 723 users)! ;)
