Update on steem.rocks - Witness leaderboard and witness voting information

in utopian-io •  7 years ago  (edited)

utopian-io profile on steem.rocks

steem.rocks is an activity feed built on STEEM blockchain where you can keep up with the operations related to your accounts. You can learn more on the original announcement post.

Since I have been running a witness for the last month, we have a new developments of steem.rocks related to witness dynamics.

New Features

1. Witness Leaderboard

I hold to my sweet spot #81 for a while

Steemit's witnesses page is unfair and shows only top50 witnesses. Probably, new investors thinks that these are all the choices they can vote, and vote from that list.

steem.rocks now shows the top400 witnesses, their votes, witness properties and a couple of stats related to them. (probably with the fastest implementation.)

All data in this page is refreshed in every minute. You can search specific witnesses, sort by properties, etc.

Information on this page is generated by a get_witnesses_by_vote("", 400) steemd daemon call. This call returns all the relevant information.

I plan to expand this page with additional info like

  • Voter count and voter detail
  • Next estimated block mint time
  • Block misses in detail
  • Scheduled witnesses

You can also see alternative implementations like steemd, steemdb, and steemian.info.

2.Account Witness Votes

Every profile includes the outgoing witness votes now.

My outgoing witness votes

If the profile has a proxy:

These information can be obtained with the get_accounts call in the steem daemon.

I saw that you use Flask as a web framework. What do you think of Django? Which one would you recommend if you would start all over without any previous knowledge?

They're not exactly doing the same job. Flask is a micro-framework which you can build/prototype things fast but lacks authentication, models, ORM. Django, on the other hand, has everything you need in a web app with batteries included.

This also effects learning curve. You write Python when you build with Flask, but you write Django when you build with Django :)

I use them both for different purposes. If I need to build a project that requires multiple modules and lots of tables/models, I would probably go with Django. On the other hand, if I need to build/prototype stuff fast, I would go with Flask.

Thanks for the advice! :)

Thank you! :)

Eline sağlık. Belki bir gün mentionlara da bir update gelir :)

gelecek yakında. :)

I am trying it .. but i don' t understand..

good luck sir.

You are right when you say that in Steemit you only see the first 50 witnesses and that many do not know, you tend to vote for the first 50 without knowing what function each of them does. What function do you do as a witness?

I am an experienced developer and working with STEEM blockchain lately.

You can see what I do on my witness announcement thread.

ok ... friend you have my support, I hope that when you are at the top remember the poor minnows like me ...

Sir informative post i guess but how can i translate it

What do you mean, boss?

How can i translate the languge sir?

Thanks, Emre. I love the Witness page you built. Makes me wonder why Steemit has such a poor page if you consider how important witness voting is for the platform.
