My experience in translating Busy (another Steem interface). You can join too!steemCreated with Sketch.

Today I want to tell you about how each of you can do a good deed and maybe even get a small reward for it.
It's no secret that the last couple of weeks Steemit is glitchy and very slow. This made me look for alternative options for access to Steem-blockchain. I already knew about eSteem as mobile app, now I decided to try Busy.org as a PC version. It turns out that it has all the same functions, just a different interface. From the posts of @busy.org I learned that now a new version is being tested and parallel translation of the interface into different languages is done. https://steemit.com/busy/@busy.org/busy-new-design-and-multilanguage-call-for-translators#@erikaflynn/re-busyorg-20171014t164312973z

Why did I decide to join?

  1. The idea. It's great that everyone can use the Steem-blockchain in his native language: read the tape, vote, make the posts. I am sure that many users, as well as I dream, that sometime Steemit will also be multi-lingual.
  2. The reward. Buzy promises 20 SBD to each translator. Not bad, but there is one nuance about which I will write later.

In the discord-chat, @fabien ( developer of this project) told me that the Ukrainian language has already been translated, but confirmation, and possibly proofreading, of another native speaker is required. Why not take a look?

My contribution

Most of the translation was simple words, like "search", "comments", "settings" - it's hard to make mistakes here, and in most cases even machine suggestions were quite accurate. Just push "upvote" and next, "upvote" and next ...
But when it came to phrases, I began to come across a lot of incorrect translations, like this one for "show original post"
Busy_translation.JPG

or this one for "{username} is now following you"
Busy_translation3.JPG

In English this sounds as "{username} is now watching you" and it is not about following.
Or this one, about Busy boost
Busy_translation1.JPG

"Хоче, щоб підвищити ваше повідомлення? Додати теми «busy» і отримати like від нас."
Here, even I had a hard time, because the word "boost" does not translate to UA, I had to explain in my own words.

In general, there were quite a few such mistakes. The impression was that the translator was in a hurry and did not spend too much time checking grammar and context. It can not be so! Even for beta-version.
I asked for "proofreader" status and corrected more than 60 lines (this is almost 1/3 of the entire translation file), trying to make the text more user-friendly and understandable.

But maybe I made mistakes somewhere, and my translation is also not perfect.
Dear Ukrainian-speaking users of Steam, I ask you to check the quality of UA translation here https://crowdin.com/translate/busy/13/en-uk. There is no need for a special registration, you can enter through social network buttons and vote for / against or suggest a better option for translating any line. And yes, in some places it's important to consider the context. And no, it is not paid work but you can do it as a volunteers for our Ukrainian community.
I also approved Rusian translation, and russian users can take a look on it here https://crowdin.com/translate/busy/13/en-ru.
It was not my translation, @testz was doing this work, and he did it excellent. I changed only few lines.

How can you help this project?

If you want to help with translation Busy to your native language, or chech the quality of translation, you can login here https://crowdin.com, find Busy project and choose your native language in the list. You can vote for the proposed translation or add your version of the translation for any line.
If you have not found your language on the list, please contact @fabien at Discord Chat https://discord.gg/hX2kR3V and he will make it available for translation. And before you start your work, you need to book the language for yourself. Only in this case you can count on the reward.
And one more note to potential translators: if you work for money, then do your work so that it is not embarrassing for it, and it did not have to be altered. Do not blindly trust a Google translator. He does not speak your language, but simply translates individual words, and he does not know the context.
Do your job honestly!

More details about translation project from @busy.org are in the first link of my post (see above).

I hope, my post was useful for you and a couple of hours of my volunteer work deserve your few-cent apvote;-)

Perfect contribution !

Thanks! Trying to be useful for the community:-)
One strange thing: this post was written yesterday, I tried several times to publish it, but he did not go and just kept in the drafts. And today only a minute - and it's ready. Thank you for the support and quick confirmation!

"STEEM", not "STEAM". :)

Oh, thanks!
As I said, don't trust Google-translator if you are doing something serious:-)

Good contribution, this should be available and understandable around the world for everybody

A web interface built to reach everyone in order to view the social network built for everybody. I like what this is, I can see if I can help with some translations myself maybe. Thanks for bringing light to this.

its good but maybe google is very good

No one bot can completely replace a human. And the Google translator is far from ideal. You can trust me. I write my posts in Russian, translate through Google and see a lot of mistakes that need to be corrected manually.

good informative post thank you for sharing

Nice....
