Project Details

In the last few days I was responsible for creating a german version of the newly published Steemia.io App. I was always fasciniated with code, but was never able to publish my own app. Therefore I decided to help an existing app to broaden its audience by making it available to German speaking people. I am aware that most of the people in the german-speaking-countries are capable of speaking English too, but nevertheless it is required to offer a German version for the given reasons below.

First and foremost not everyone in the german speaking countries has good English skills. This is especially true with older people who have not grown up with computers, smartphones and lately with the Blockchain Technology. With this translation work I want to provide a plattform with which they are language wise familiar with to be able to share their knowledge and wisdom with the Steem-Community. It is essential to build bridges with older generations and to ease their access to these new technologies.

Finally, it is necessary to make our Steem-Blockchain available to different cultures and languages. According to statista.com¹ it will be predicted that over 70 % of the Austrian population will have a mobile device until 2020. Therefore it is by all means necessary to provide a working app with a good design for the Steem-Blockchain. With my translation work I will contribute to a higher download rate and an increased app usage in the German-Speaking-Countries

Contribution Specifications

  • Translation Overview
A german version of Steemia.io will help with making the app more popular in the german-speaking-countries. Moreover we build a bridge between older people who might not be familiar with the English language and the Steem-Blockchain.

  • Languages
I have been given the source code in the English language and was responsible to translate it into the German language. For over 12 years now I'm studying English, was already nominated in school for some language contests and was hence able to translate it into my mothertongue German.

  • Word Count
The total words translated, without code and strings, amounts to roughly 450 words.
