Add Tools Auto comment/Suggestion When Typing on java EE IDE editor

in utopian-io •  7 years ago

Repository

https://github.com/javaee/glassfish

Components

for a programmer would know about this application, the application I mean is the Eclipse IDE or java EE IDE. this application is similar to NetBeans, although not the same, this application refers to one purpose of java programming. unfortunately this Eclipse IDE application does not have the tools to auto comment / advice to the programmer when typing incorrect program.

Proposal

my Suggestion for this application is to add auto comment / suggestion tool to programmer when typing program, this tool is very useful for programmer, this tool already exist in NetBeans application but not yet exist in EE IDE application.

Mockups / Examples

  • this is the tools I mean:

this comment appears when we right-click on the lamp icon on NetBeans

  • this is the same program display that is typed on the IDE EE but does not show auto comment / advice

this is an IDE EE display that does not have auto comment / advice yet

Benefits

the benefits that we can get with this tool on IDE EE or eclipse IDE will facilitate the programmer in the process of writing the program because when there is a wrong placement or unnecessary program it will appear suggestions for improvement.

Hello @lapulga,

I would like to highlight many facts about your contribution.

  • Firstly your contribution is attached to https://github.com/javaee/glassfish which is official repository of Java EE(Enterprise Edition) and not Eclipse IDE.
  • Secondly your contribution is about Eclipse IDE which is not open sourced on Github and Utopian accepts contribution of projects which are open sourced on Github or have official mirrors present on Github. Link to the Eclipse Project - https://git.eclipse.org/c/. If you are looking to contribute to it you can look here - http://www.eclipse.org/contribute/.
  • The suggestion you have made for Eclipse IDE is already present in it.

Quoting an answer from SO(Stack Overflow) about it -

By default in Eclipse you only have to press Ctrl-space for autocomplete. Then select the desired method and wait 500ms for the javadoc info to pop up. If this doesn't work go to the Eclipse Windows menu -> Preferences -> Java -> Editor -> Content assist and check your settings here.

Link to the answer on Stack Overflow - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6912169/eclipse-enable-autocomplete-content-assist.

Thanks!!
