Project Details

Curious Expedition is a roguelike expedition simulation set in the late 19th century. Together with famous personalities you will venture on unprecedented expeditions to regions never explored before for fame, science and treasures. On Crowdin there is there is an open-source project that allows everyone to translate the linguistic content of the game.

I really identify myself with this game, in a sense that I play similar games and I love them.
Saying this, obviously the translations get easier and quicker.
I think my work will help other people to get a better understanding of the gameplay it self and how the game functions.

Translation Overview

I worked on the "Main Game" folder and translated several strings. Those strings were mainly the narrator talking or dialogues between the main character and sub characters.

  • Example of Strings Translated:
English

A [man|woman|boy|girl] came running into the village [crying|shouting|screaming|sobbing] loudly. Apparently [the village elder|the youngest child|a young mother|their strongest warrior] had died. The whole village was in mourning. Rituals were held throughout the whole night.

Portuguese

[Um homem|Uma mulher|Um menino|Uma menina] chegou correndo à aldeia [a chorar|a berrar|a gritar|a soluçar] muito alto. Aparentemente faleceu [o ancião da aldeia|a criança mais nova|uma mãe nova|o seu guerreiro mais forte]. A aldeia inteira estava desconsolada. Rituais prolongaram-se durante toda a noite.

English

She screamed that {a man|a woman} named $name visited some time ago and [warned them|gave a lecture|educated them|forewarned them] about a [devil|demon|villain|stranger] with my name. $He was quite successful at tarnishing my reputation, it appeared.

Portuguese

Ela gritou que {um homem|uma mulher} chamad{o|a} $name a visitou à algum tempo atrás e [avisou-os|instrucionou-os|educou-os|os preveniu de] um [diabo|demónio|vilão|estranho] com o meu nome. Pelo que parecia, $He havia conseguido manchar bastante a minha reputação.
