But I would like to bring it to your knowledge that this is not a bug in the project but a bug in the third party dependency - Materialize CSS

You can check the same response by going here - https://materializecss.com/select.html on mobile and trying to select a dropdown option.

And actually it works if you have a steady tap instead of quick tap.

This bug is known to the third party dependency and is present in its issue tracker.

This bug was brought to me before by one of the CM so it was already a known bug to me too.
