Project Information

Expected behavior

When a new location is assigned for storage, all that is expected is that the engagement with the previous location stops and begin with the newly assigned location.

Actual behavior

When a folder is made default location for aphotomanager's thumbnails and then it is exchanged with another folder, it loses all the files it holds.

How to reproduce

First select a folder with files (not important files)

  • Download Aphotomanager from Fdroid

  • Launch the app

  • Click on the three dots located at the top right corner of the home page.

  • Select setting from the menu

  • On the settings page, move down the "thumbnail folder" option.

  • Replace the current folder (should be DCIM), with your selected folder's name

  • exit and launch the app, and allow some thumbnails to load

  • To confirm, open your selected folder with a file manager and check for unfamiliar files.

  • Now launch Aphotomanager, head to settings and change thr default folder again

  • when this is done. Open your selected folder to observe the changes.

  • Browser/App version: V0.6.4.180321

  • Operating system: Android v6.0

The application works as is intended, the default thumbcache folder by default is set to hidden, hidden because it performs certain operations that do not require human intervention. It basically stores data that gets deleted at will when you clear the cache.

So changing the default folder allows the application to assume that the cache data in the previous folder is not needed, therefore it gets deleted. The cache folder should house only cache data, nothing more cause they get cleared often.

Thank you

Are the photos and videos that get cleared also cache? @fego lets be realistic, the app is buggy for being unable to recognise its cache file. You rarely reply to feedbacks, I hope you say something here.

Why would you pick a folder that stores caches to store your useful files? And did you read the part where I said these folders are usually hidden, you even used DCIM as your default cache folder, DCIM houses pictures taken with your camera.

Most caches folder are meant to be hidden, as mistakenly deleting them would erase important details like custom settings and passwords.

DCIM/.thumbnail is its default thumbnail folder @fego.

.thumbCache and its meant to be hidden, in your video you used the DCIM folder and it wasn't hidden.
