Saving files in the same folder using the "save as" option, corrupts the file.

in utopian-io •  7 years ago

Expected behavior

I expected the app to produce a duplicate or overwrite the files or file that already exist in the folder.

Actual behavior

When a file is picked, shared and "saved as" with amaze file manager to the same folder, the file ends up corrupt.

How to reproduce

  • Launch any file managing app that supports share (used Dir file manager for my test)

  • pick a file and opt to share it

  • select amaze's "save as" from the list

  • Navigate to the same folder where the file was picked.

  • Save it there by clicking on the downward arrow ↓

  • Head back and try opening the file

testing environment

  • Browser version: v3.2.1
  • Operating system: Android v6.0 marshmallow
  • Device: Itel p12

Hi, this can not be considered as a bug, The shared file is not actually destroyed or corrupted. Please use the steps below to open the shared file.

  1. After sharing your file which is now renamed as "NULL"
  2. Use amaz file explorer itself to locate that file
  3. Click on the vertical 3 dot next to it
  4. from the drop down menu, select "open it with"
  5. select the option that suits what you shared.

@knowledges that is what happens when stock explorer is used. Please use simle file manager or Dir explorer as shown in the video. Thanks.

Thank you for your contribution.
