Utopian/Davinci Portuguese Translation Team Report - Week #3

in utopian-io •  6 years ago

Hello again everyone!

It's a few days late, but here is the last week Portuguese Translation Team Report.

Like i said on the first report, my objective with these reports are:

  • Increase the awareness of the translation contributions, and how are we helping the open-source community;
  • Show to others Language Moderators what i am facing and learning during this process.

And with this one, i will be adding a new objective:

  • Track the performance of the team, adding some statistics.

We will now have some data and some pretty graphs!

The Team

Nothing changed this week on the team, since there were no new recruiting opened by the @davinci.witness team, but the good news is that a lot of people are asking me on discord how to join the Utopian/Davinci team, so expect some new additions soon.

The members of the Portuguese team are:

@phbr - Language Moderator (Brazilian Portuguese) - AP
@mrprofessor - Translator (Brazilian Portuguese) - AP
@leurop - Translator (Portugal Portuguese) - AP
@martusamak - Translator (Portugal Portuguese) - AP

What the team is working on

@leurop and @mrprofessor still going strong on The Curious Expedition, translations to PT-PT and PT-BR respectively.

@matusamark still haven't contributed anything.

Team Contributions

@mrprofessor

Only one contribution from him on the last week:

Contribution 5

It's already possible to notice the improvements from the first weeks, with fewer mistakes being made.

@leurop

Almost reaching @mrprofessor in quantity of contributions, @leurop sent two more this week:

Contribution 3
Contribution 4

@martusamak

No contributions yet.

Lessons Learned

With not many contributions posted this week, there wasn't anything new.

@leurop got a bit worried that his post wounldn't get an upvote because i wasn't able to review it in 3 days, but we learned that the time the post was published is what matter for the @utopian-io voting line, not the time it was reviwed.

Statistics

Starting this week, i will add some statistics related to the work done by the team, mostly tracking the translators performance.

Conclusion

This was a slow week, with only 3 contributions from @leurop and @mrprofessor, and still nothing from @martusamak.

I am still thinking what data would be interesting to track to see how the team is developing, and i am accepting suggestions.

Seee you next week.

As far as the review goes, all of my points from the last post - positive and negative alike - still stand. I do like the added graphics, however.

I'd be happy to provide examples of the kind of grammar issues that can be improved in a follow-up post, if you're interested.

You asked about the kind of data that may be interesting. To my mind, how many contributions a particular translated had is almost meaningless without a word count. A person with a single contribution may contribute twice as much as a person with two or three. You had a word count for one contributor in the previous update, and none here. That's the sort of data I'd like to see in future graphs.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.

Thanks @didic!

I was just thinking about the word count. It is indeed a good information to add to the report. I will do it on the next one (I skipped this week, because of the HF, but i will add it on the next one).

And about the grammar, i would like to recieve the issues you are finding. I do some proofreading before posting, but it seems i am still missing a lot of errors...

Thanks again!

Well, since you asked!

but here is the last week Portuguese Translation Team Report.

This should be "but here is last week's Portuguese Translation Team Report" or "but here is the Portuguese Translation Team Report from last week."

Show to others Language Moderators what i am facing and learning during this process.

This could be "show to other Language moderators."

since there were no new recruiting

I'm not even sure how to fix this. But I do know "recruiting" is singular, and so should be preceded by "there was no," not "there were no." Maybe you meant "recruitment slots"? Also, this is part of a single-sentence paragraph, that should be two or three sentences.

Also, please capitalize your "I"s. When used as a word, "I" should always be capitalized, without exception.

Thank you for your review, @didic!

So far this week you've reviewed 17 contributions. Keep up the good work!
