Components
Only a single subpatcher in machine.maxpat and in organism.maxpat should need to be reworked.
Proposal
Building a version for Mac should actually be very straightforward. I can only think of 2 places where there would be a difference in the code: the 2 places where [mxj DOShack] is used to manipulate files/folders outside of Max. These would need to be reworked using [shell], which if I'm not mistaken is the Mac version of [mxj DOShack].
- in machine.maxpat > [p Producer] > [p export] > [p autoExport], [p createProjectFolder] would need to be reworked
- in organism.maxpat > [p Amanuensis] > [p brain], [p bestowConsciousness] would need to be reworked, which launches the external script consciousness.py. Actually, the only reason this script was run externally is because to my knowledge there is no working Python external for (64 bit) Windows e.g. [py]. But if there is for Mac, it would be ideal to run it internally.
After that, the only thing I can think of would be that any stable version that's deemed good enough to be turned into a standalone would need to have that done on a Mac to get a Mac version.
Benefits
The benefits of having a version for Mac are obvious, namely more people could use the project, especially given that maybe even more than half of the people familiar with and using Max are on Macs. Seems like the best place to start as far as a suggested upgrade. Much thanks for any help!
