Becoming A Certified Hunter on Steemhunt; Answers To Some Frequently Asked Questions and Complaints.

in utopian-io •  6 years ago  (edited)

You can't love innovative products and be on the blockchain space and not be active on Steemhunt. Becoming a certified hunter (note: there is no official recognition for a **certified hunter, it's just how I love to see myself) goes beyond hunting innovative products. Recognizing innovative products and voting on them is another feature of a certified hunter. Being a certified hunter is an overall representation of your activities on the Hunt Platform.

All the time I have invited people to join the Steemhunt community, I have had some frequently asked questions and complaints like;

  • which website do you find your hunt
  • All the products I've found have been done
  • Why didn't I get an upvote even after I was approved
  • How can I grow my hunt score
  • How can I get votes on my Hunt post

I have previously done a couple of post concerning steemhunt and why I think they will be the most successful dapp on the steem blockchain. Today I will take my time to give some helpful answers and tips to these frequently asked questions.

Most contents from this blog will be based on personal experience. I may not be totally right and I'm fully opened to corrections on the comment box.

Answers To Some Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which Website Do You Find Your Hunt
There is no official or specific website where you are to find hunts from. There are lots of websites that review new and innovative products on the internet. Although steemhunt only accepts links to official websites of the product, you can still search for products on unofficial websites. Once you find a product, you can then search for the official website of that product. There are lots of search engines available for you to carry out your search with. Most of the time, I make use of Google and YouTube. Before I hunt, Before I hunt, I bare a particular spec or type of product in mind. What I do is search with keywords to that type of product. For example, I can go to YouTube and search "retail assistant robots". YouTube as a top search engine will bring up related contents under my search. All I need is the name of the robot, then I go to Google and search for the official website. Next, I check if it has been done on Steemhunt. If it hasn't, I am good to go.
Tip: Always think of something innovative first, then you search with the keywords. Google or YouTube will bring up lots of results for you which will give you a greater probability of finding a hunt.
    There are also some notable websites that review innovative products, e.g cnet.com, geeky-gadgets.com, thegadgetflow.com, crunchbase.com, producthunt.com e.t.c.
You can also search on crowdfunding sites e.g, Indiegogo and Kickstarter. Products gotten from here must have been successfully funded. Links to the product funding on Indiegogo and Kickstarter are also accepted on Steemhunt.

  • All The Products I have found have been done

I used to think that one day hunters would run out of products to hunt. With time I got to understand better. Today, over 44k unique products have been hunted on Steemhunt and an average of 170 are hunted on a daily basis. Steemhunt has allowed for a wide scope of products to be hunted. Most hunters focus on only the gadgets and IoT devices aspect. There are thousands of innovative web services on the internet, new softwares with innovative use-cases are created every day. Open source projects that are cool and innovative are also accepted. When making a search for a hunt, broaden your search to the different categories of accepted products on Steemhunt.

  • Why Didn't I Get An Upvote Even After I Was Approved
Before the price of steem got this low, all the approved posts were accepted. But right now only the top 100 posts and top 100 comments receive an upvote from, steemhunt bot. Aside from the low price of steem, rewarding only the top 100 posts is a way of creating healthy competition between hunters to get the best product. Healthy competition is a good means to enhance the growth of any project. The top 100 posts are assumed to be the best 100 posts for that day based on general community review.
Not all products that fall under the categories of accepted products are that cool. Some might be too common, thereby making it not so innovative. So it is left to the community members to vote for the bests according to their preferences. The top 100 with the highest votes (based on point score) get rewarded.

  • How Can I Grow My Hunt score

The best way to grow your hunt score is to stay dedicated and contribute positively to the platform. The full details on how the hunt score is calculated are classified. But there is a summary with insights on the calculation pattern.
Hunt Score x Contribution score = User Score

#Your Hunt score is hunt token stake relative to other hunt token holders. In order words, you need hunts tokens to grow your hunt score. I have done a post about available airdrops and bounties on the Hunt platform. As a newbie, the best way to grow your hunt tokens is through social shares and promotion contributions. Share steemhunt to your friends that are not on the platform and invite them to join. With this, you can get up to 4k hunt tokens in a month. With listing negotiations going on with Daybit exchange, very soon hunt tokens will be available to buy and sell.
#Your Contribution score is a measure of your positive contributions on the platform. Posting and getting approved, upvoting random quality hunt posts e.t.c, are examples of positive contributions to the platform. As a newbie, you have no worries about RC because steemhunt is now delegating 15 Sp to new users that sign up via https://steemhunt.com/. Also drop comments on other hunters posts and avoid spamming on the platform.
There might be some glitches on your hunt score, it could have a high rise or a high fall. This happens once in a while but stabilizes back.

  • How Can I Get Votes On My Hunt Post
Where you rank on the daily post rankings is totally dependent on other community members. There is no special way of getting votes aside making good posts. There is an influencer team to help push quality posts up the rank. So all you need to do is make quality hunt posts and you will most likely get votes and make top 100. If you engage in V4V (Vote for Vote) you will get blacklisted if caught. Also, the use of alt accounts to push your posts up the rank will lead to a temporary or permanent blacklist. If you are permanently blacklisted, your hunt tokens will be withdrawn from your wallet.

Getting Active on the Hunt platform is not as difficult as some people see it. It's just a matter of having the right attitude towards contributing to the platform and following the provided guidelines.
At the right top of the posting page, there is a link to the posting guidelines page. Before posting on steemhunt, you should go through that page extensively for first-class knowledge on how to go about posting.

Hello, @tony-duke!

Thank you for this awesome contribution. This is a rather informative and comprehensive blog post that includes valuable information, especially for new users looking to get started on Steemhunt. The post is also well-illustrated with quality screenshots.

On the content side, I think it's fair to say that you did a really good job. You provided valuable insights about your personal experience as a Hunter, and even shared little tips and tricks you occasionally use in order to come up with unique hunts; this is the kind of content we like to see in blog posts.

That said, there were issues of style and proofreading, but not to the level where it hurt the reading experience. I would advise you to consider giving your future posts a more thorough check in order to avoid such issues, and breaking up long paragraphs into shorter chunks in order to divide your writing into manageable units.

In conclusion, I appreciate the time and effort you put into your work, and look forward to seeing more awesome content from you in the future.

I look forward to your next contribution.
