There are a few things holding STEEMIT back; The subtitle isn't previewed and that always makes me struggle to start my posts. You never know, when your sentence will be cut of. Also sometimes you might not want a long subtitle.
Other issues I see:
If you are not signed in, a popup will appear, blocking out the content.
Because of it, some of my friends didn't sign up - they felt forced.
Reddit, for example, works fine without a need to log in.
Steemit looks sketchy to a lot of people and the popup-blocky thing enforces that impression.Markdown doesn't work like explained in the link
For example making lists like these, works properly only on the first item.[x] Checklists look ugly
Comments are underrated.
The payout on good comments is too low, also do they not seem to influence the value and exposure of the original post enough.Users vote the wrong posts
The promise of a curation reward leads people to upvote low value content.
It has to be clearly explained, that the curation reward with low SP is - even under best conditions - ridiculous.
A newbie doesn't help himself upvoting trending posts - His vote has a tiny impact there and he doesn't benefit.
The value of STEEM is crashing and some accounts always cash out and trade away the generated STEEM.
Upvoting posts by these users hurts STEEMIT.The reputation system is patronizing
Also it's blocking valuable content.
It devalues STEEM since a bad reputation can ruin your account and investment in STEEM.
Apart from the issues, that the developers should pay attention to, the users should be encouraged to make an educated vote.
With great power comes great responsibility.
When you see someone abuse their power - comment or flag !
Before a mass-adoption can take place, we need to establish an etiquette.
The developers and whales can only do so much.
Don't rely on others to vote right - you need to take your STEEM POWER serious, if you want the market to take STEEM serious.

Have a gerat day and steem on !
I agree with many of your comments ,I guess we need to remind ourselves this is still in beta...very bright future as it becomes more user friendly.

This is what I keep saying as well. This is only the early stage.

I learned that so many Steem users give their upvote to bad posts by accident and later, they just don't remove it... they let it be

I think with a more transparent platform it would be easier to find what you voted on.
After the first 12 hours you can't remove your vote anymore.
The way it is right now, I only vote for really 'low attention' posts.
My vote has the biggest impact there and I can make the most of my power.
I'd rather motivate a newbie than kiss a whale.

It would be interesting to see something like an account balance for every steemit account, where one can see, how much steem someone has transfered outside of steemit (sold) or how much he has transfered to steemit (buyed). In my case it would be 0, because I have powered up with all the Steemdollars I received so far and did have never sending steem out or in. - I would like to vote for users that are powering up all their received Steemdollars or have even bought some steem outside and transfered it to Steemit for powering up.

buyed = bought
I don't need steemit to provide that balance.
There are tools like steemstats.com ( respect @jesta ) that really help following people.
I advocate responsible voting.
I'm not crying for the devs, to take the responsibility away from me.
I appreciate your comment and your attitude.
I don't want to be a smurf and I don't need someone to point out Gargamel to me, tho :)
Thanks for voting and leaving your comment !

Don't put a blank line between list items. I agree this is very quirky.
Interesting point, especially the part I bolded.

I totally agree on the 4th Point you made!
Comments are underrated.
Steemit should turn more into a Dialog, not a Monolog.
But you know what, I´m sure it´ll come ;) !

These are good points. Today website looks like reddit, if steemit wants to attract broader audience ( facebook people) they need to build better user profil ( image, wall,etc..) people like to personalize their own little online space

In the meantime I want to make some fair STEEM and the right people to be promoted.
I'm a special snowflake, too :)

plus (to me at least), there's possibility of accidentally flag with the flag and collapse icon so close to each other. when I am using a small screen device, I have to avoid collapsing the comments I have read.
