The problem with parallel wires....

The Setup

I built a new coil today, Kanthal Clapton side by side with a triple twisted Kanthal.

There was one thing I didn't take into consideration.... My Mesh RDA has a weird clamp setup. It's made mainly for a flat piece of mesh, but can be used for single or dual coils.

After a bit of vaping I noticed my resistance jumping around a bit. It started at 0.43 ohms and even made it all the way up to 0.85ohms at one point.... The clamps would only tighten up on one of the 2 wires on each side.

My Solution

Moving the wires from the outside area of the clamps, towards the center, allowed for a better contact and clamp.

Make sure you check and double check your builds, don't take any chances.

I love me a good build, no done any for a few years now, will have to clean off the Tobh and do a build

Sounds good, let us see what you got.

Wicked build! I have a really close friend who builds all my coils for me, Currently running the Vgod elite mech, and a Vgod elite RDA, got the coils below in there right now, I believe they are framed staples, ohm out to about .11 (runs a little warm, but safe as long as I use full charge VTC4's) but man oh man do they hit like champs! (the picture is from my friends Instagram Bk_Custom_Coils if you are interested in checking out any of his other work!) If you are interested in vape topics I just started posting the other day and plan to talk mainly about vaping :) Super awesome to meet you! Hopefully we talk more in the future!

Would love to get into different builds, but the 5 kids take lots of time.

I think one good off-shoot of Vaping is that it teaches ppl who would otherwise know nothing about Ohm's Law how to calculate resistances in series and parallel circuits. I just wonder if there is such a thing as a series/parallel coil arrangement in a mod? ;)
I have a 100W eLeaf, need to fire that back up. It's plenty for what I do...

Im currently running a Pulse BF 80W with a Mesh RDA, has dual triple twisted wire kanthal coils, .2 Ohms at 35W
