I fear in the US it might be too late to change things anyway.
Now that they have all that power why would they possibly give it up?
And anyway, lets say they did agree to a public demand and they said:
"OK we will stop doing it" - - how can you possibly trust that they would?
You would basically have to create a special police force to watch over them. And we all know how that would play out.
The C I A would either corrupt them with money, threaten their families or set them up somehow.
Lets face it the C I A invented every dirty trick in the book and so would see every move coming against coming them from a mile away.
People always think that psychopaths in power have one big plan.
But the truth is it doesnt work like that.
Basically what they do is see how ordinary citizens react to actions they do.
If a citizen or a good politician harms them or wins against them all they do is shrug their shoulders and move on. But then when things quiet down they make sure that this window is closed next time so that they cant do the same attack.
This goes on until they have eventually they have closed every window of opportunity available to the citizen. When that happens the psychopaths have achieved their goal. And that goal is basically to achieve dictatorship.
Total control over voting, money, laws and total surveillance.
I used to live in the U K and I wrote about this for 30 years. No one listened, no one cared and so I gave up and emigrated to Norway.
I saw that it was possibly one of the last countries on earth where your freedom is respected. Norway has the highest citizen/human rights in the world. That is why the mass murderer Anders Brevik was given the right to a fair trial. America criticized Norway for doing that but perhaps now they see the logic of it. If you take away the human rights of even the worst criminal you can imagine, then you open the door to taking away other rights until one by one all your rights are gone.
Look at our Scandinavian neighbor Iceland. They sacked their Govt and created a new one. When the Prime minister was shown to have money in a secret tax haven they got rid of him. The also threw all their bank CEOs in jail after the 2008 financial crises.No other country did that.
Norway did not have to do that because Govt corruption is constantly being monitored all the time.
Did you know that on the board of directors of Norways oil company "StatOIL" there is a philosopher. Yes thats right, a philosopher. This person has much say in what happens to the oil money. That means he/she makes sure that the huge profits from the oil go to hospitals and infrastructure.
This is why the Norwegian people believe in their Govt and why their is hardly any crime. The only reason why the rest of the world do not know about this is because Norwegian people dont boast about things.
They just get on with their lives-
Sadly I have a feeling the that the US citizens are going to have to get used to the situation or hope that Trump keeps his promises and really does clean the swamp. I fear this is the last chance saloon.
