Naturli’ hakket - Easy healthy, animal-friendly dinner

in vegan •  7 years ago  (edited)

The vegan and vegetarian food had had a serious awakening for the past years time and it is only going stronger. Personally I have been vegetarian since the summer 2017. People have a lot of different opinions about this new “trend”, and we still seem to get a lot of steam.

Recently the company “ Naturli’ ” has released a plant based substitute for meat in Denmark. This kind of “meat” look like the meat you make buy in the supermarket for bolognese or patties. But the meat is actually made from 100% plants: this being the list of ingredients: (In Danish)

Rehydreret SOJAprotein/-isolat (58 %), vand, kokosolie, SOJAmel, HVEDEgluten, MANDEL, Karl Johan svampe, tomat, fermenteret dekstrose, tapiocastivelse, salt, maltekstrakt (BYG), farve (rødbede), naturlig aroma, maltodekstrin, stabilisator (methylcellulose).

There have for a long time been a huge lack in vegan and vegetarian food in the supermarkets, (in Denmark at least), but now it seems to be growing faster. After this “Naturli’ Hakket” was put in stores the plant-eaters still got a lot to hear for.
A lot of people quickly starting criticising it. People said that it is unhealthy and criticizing it because it looked too real. Both plant-based and meat-eaters had opinions on the product.

I understand that some vegans could feel the problem of it being too real because it resemblesso much. Meat-eaters commented saying they don’t understand how someone who tries to avoid meat would buy something that resembles meat. But you’d have to consider WHY someone becomes a plant-eater too. Some people do it because they don’t want to hurt animals among other reasons but when eating Naturli’ Hakket, you don’t eat any animals.

It is also beneficial to those who wants to ease their way into a more plant based cooking life. Newer plant based people might have a hard time and wants to start out easy. Sometimes you’re in a hurry and forgot to soak the beans and you’d have to come up with alternatives. It’s an easier dinner; sometimes you don’t have a lot of time on your hands.

Other people argue that it is unhealthy. It’s not. It’s made of plants. Although yes; if you eat too much, as with any other product, it is, unhealthy.

Often, I think, the vegan and vegetarianism come to stand in a bad light and this, good thing, have in the eyes of some made us look bad once again. We take care of the animals, ourselves and everybody else with the concern of the environment. Yet we are still somehow the bad guys.

Do you eat plant-based and have you tried or heard of this product?
