Success! - I made homemade vegan toffifee

in vegan •  7 years ago

For a long time I had an eye on a recipe for homemade vegan Toffifee. Yes VEGAN and yes TOFFIFEE! I just haven't had the time to try the recipe or something else would have come up. But I found the time and I just had to try it.

And it went incredibly well.

I covered the baking dish with melted dark vegan chocolate and put it in the fridge.

Then all it took was some sugar, syrup and soy cream to make the caramel. Then heat it and keep on stirring occasionally to prevent it from burning.

Then BOOM. Put it in the baking dish, put a hazelnut in each and top with melted chocolate and in the fridge (or freezer for faster result)

Here is the caramel:

The final result!

Yeah.. It does look a bit greasy and it definitely is too. But it is SO good.
I didn't have hazelnutcream which would work as 'nougat' in a toffifee, so I left that out. But next time.. and there WILL be a next time!

Have you ever tried making homemade caramel or similar? How did it go?
