What are Acid Forming foods?

in vegan •  6 years ago

Let’s clarify what “acid forming foods” are, & what “acid forming” means... I am writing this based on my understanding so far...

Acid forming foods are pretty much all the foods humans eat (meat, dairy, eggs, grains, etc.) ... acid forming foods do not include the simple chained - amino - acid foods, such as fruits, greens & vegetables ...

Why are the above mentioned foods considered acid forming ?

Our bodies break fruits, greens & veggies down with ease, they leave little residue within, digest easily & are simple, meaning they do not require the body to invoke acids to break it down & aid in the digestive process...

acids are required to help break down complex, difficult to digest foods, such as fats, high proteins , & starches...

So when we mention a certain food is “acid forming”, it simply means the food is dense, complex , often a high protein food source that the body has to create acids to help digest, absorb, utilize & eliminate that complex food source...

The only acid our bodies create is hydrochloric acid...

If our bodies are busy digesting foods, it’s energy is directed for that difficult task...

complex foods take many hours to digest, & generally a new meal is introduced, before the last meals been digested... this can set an individual up for a lifetime of digestion, & if the body is busy digesting , it is not healing or eliminating... the digestive process of complex foods require life force energy ... fruits, greens & veggies require less digestive energy which is less taxing on the body...

Simple fruits, veggies & greens digest quickly, hydrate, & do not require as much digestive energy or acids to be invoked, in order to assist with the breakdown & digestive process...

Ingesting complex foods / high protein / acid forming foods daily, will ensure that your digestive system never receives a break in order to allow healing to take place within...

This is where we are at, & this, according to my understanding is why many foods are considered “acid forming”...

So to clarify, the foods labelled “acid forming” are generally not acidic in themselves, it’s the acids that are required by the body to break it down that food, which warrants the title of an “acid forming food” ... a lemon is acidic, yet has an alkaline ash residue within... its not acid forming...

Additionally - if acid forming foods are eaten, excess acids enter the intestines & they are neutralized by the intestines with calcium, which has to come from somewhere ... the calcium is drawn by the blood, from your connective tissues, nerves, bones, blood vessels, muscles, etc... overtime this will deplete your body of calcium & cause parathyroid issues, this is when we see symptoms such as sagging of the skin, wrinkles, varicose veins, depression & many other symptoms ensue including malabsorption, etc...

Hope this is clarifying to some degree as I’ve had a lot of messages pertaining to this topic...
