Dear steemians and food aficionados,
Today I made a pizza - but not a normal one.
This recipe has been inspired by a recipe I got from a Turkish friend.
Of yourse, as always, it is vegan, that is, it contains no animal foods whatsoever.π
Spoiler: it is ππ¦π mouth-wateringly delicous! π
For this recipe you will need the following equipment:
- a rolling pin
- parchment paper for oven sheets
- oven
- 2 bowls
- knife for cutting
Ingredients for dough ππ§
- 800g wheat flour
- water (as needed)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp basil powder
- 1 tsp curcuma
- 2 tsp salt
Ingredients for topping π π₯πΆπ
- 500ml tomato sauce
- 3 small onions
- 3 cloves of garlic
- basil leaves
- parsley leaves
- small medium zucchini
- small eggplant
- 3 tbsp ground flax seeds
- vegan cheese (optional)
- salt, pepper, chili, cumin
- soya chunks aka defatted soy flour aka texturized vegetable protein (optional)
Sides π π₯π₯
- 250g soy yogurt
- 4 slices cucumber
- 3 slices zucchini
- 2 tomatos
- one carrot
- one small onion
- 1 tbsp mint leaves
- 1 tsp ground cumin seeds
- black pepper
- chili
- salt
Procedure
Now, let's get it on!
Let's make the pizza dough ππ§
Knead the ingredients with water (as needed - add it step-by-step) to a firm dough. Form dough balls (with the size of golf balls) and roll them flat with a rolling pin. Put some parchment paper on the oven sheets and form some pizzas ready for filling in some topping.
Let's make the pizza toppingπ πΆπ
Soak the soy chunks in water for about 15 minutes. After this, squeeze all the water from them. They are ready to be used now.
Cut up the onions, zucchini and eggplant. Heat a pan and stir fry them up. Cut up finely the garlic and add them into the pan. Add the tomato sauce, and add the spices and ground seeds (flax, salt, pepper, chili, cumin). Add the soy chunks and the cut upf basil and parsley leaves.
Put the topping onto the dough pizzas.
You can also add some crated vegan cheese if you like (optional).
Put the pizzas into the oven! They are ready when they are golden brown.
Let's make the sides π π₯π₯πΆ
While the pizzas are in the oven, we have time to prepare the side dishes. Put the soy yogurt into a bowl. Cut the cucumber, on of the tomatos, the carrot and the onion into small cubes and put it into the bowl with the soy yoghurt. Finely cut the mint leaves and add it to the bowl. Finally, add the spices (chili, cumin, pepper, salt - dose it according to your taste) and mix it all up. Add it to your plate.
Finally, cut up the second tomato and the zucchini. Add them to your plate.π½π½

looks delicious mate. So the dough is more like a flatbread / wrap than pizza dough as has no yeast in it?
