Why veganism for pets is harmful to their health....

in vegan •  7 years ago  (edited)

There is a current trend suggesting that veganism is a species appropriate diet for dogs and cats. As obligate carnivores whose digestive systems have been created to dissolve raw meaty bones providing a vegan only diet can be detrimental to their health and over time can be fatal...

This is what Dr Becker has to share about the new fad for animals....I agree with Dr Becker feeding dogs and cats a vegan diet is unethical.

Interesting topic to bring up. I would agree with you, each species is different and there metabolism. Great insight @whitedolphin!

Thanks @bitdollar.

I'm totally agree. Each person can choose what to eat on his or her own responsibility, but animals don't have to.

Yes. I walked into a store close to me today and they were promoting cooked food for pets. The only time I recommend cooked food for animals is if they are in convalescence or in hospice type situations. Otherwise raw food is what the animals digestion has been designed for (both dogs and cats are carnivores).

@whitedolphin, those canines are there for a reason ;)
BTW, just wanted to let you know that I nominated you take part in the 7 day Black and White Challenge in my last post.
