Tempeh "Bacon" Sandwich Recipe

Rustic tempeh “bacon” and avocado sandwich

Ingredients:
Tempeh
Spanish smoked paprika- I prefer this to liquid smoke you will find in other recipes, which is just not healthy at all.
Cumin
Garlic or garlic salt
Salt and pepper
Oil
Roll
Avocado
Cheese slices of choice
Mayonnaise, etc

  1. Slice tempeh into long, thin strips, as thin as you can get them.

  2. Gather tempeh and spices.
  3. Prepare a marinade of oil and spices (I use vegetable oil).
  4. Heat skillet with oil on medium high.
  5. Lay strips of tempeh in marinade and turn over to coat both sides well.

  6. Place strips in heated pan; cook both sides until the strips are crunchy on edges.

  7. Prepare diced avocado, cheese slices, mayonnaise, salt and pepper- whatever you prefer! For buns, I use onion poppyseed buns from my Kroger bakery.

  8. Assemble your sandwich and enjoy!

    NOTE: this can be made vegan by using vegan alternatives to cheese and mayo.
