Yesterday, I ripped apart my driver door as it was not operating from the inside. The door was stuck closed unless you opened it from the outside. I was told that it needed a new cable so I proceeded to replace the cable. When taking apart the door I broke the door panel :( The door panel broke at the top screw.
This is how I fixed it. Two washers and a wood screw. I know that it looks tacky, but I had to get it back together so I could drive to and from work.
Plus with the damage that occurred while I was removing the panel I cracked the panel itself. Now I most definitely have to replace the entire panel.
After replacing the cable I found that I could still not open the door from the inside. I broke the 21 dollar door handle that had come with the truck. I played with the tension of the cable and found that it was not the cable that was the issue. It was the lever that the cable and door handle mount to. I bent the lever just a little bit and found that the door handle now operates properly. Whoo hoo. First fix down ... kinda.
