The Morela (The house of the exorcism of Maracaibo)/ La Morela /Steemzuela Contest

In the 1950s, the commercial activity and entertainment of the city of Maracaibo converge between the so-called center of the city with its markets and the popular neighborhoods Saladillo and Empedrao, as well as along the Avenida El Milagro and its nightclubs, while in the rest everything is calm or there are hardly any outbreaks of that fever typical of the inhabitants of the city.

In a house located near the corner of the control and in the background of the San José church, very close to the round cemetery, built in the Art Deco style, two floors, a colorful portico and named "Morela" that recalls a Mexican city or a proper name of that country, lives a family of good economic resources that rub elbows with the high society of that time.

One night the heart-wrenching screech of one of its residents pierces the darkness and lelns the atmosphere of mourning and surprise.

One of its inhabitants is lying on the floor in the middle of a pool of blood with her head centimeters away from her body.

Calm is no longer the main ingredient.

The news of the possible murder causes some commotion but the investigations do not lead to find the guilty ones of such barbarism and although they do not divulge it they believe that they did not exist and that the own woman has carried out this act.

From that moment to live there is to do it in a hell, the nights are accompanied by strange noises and heart-wrenching screams, reason why before the police failure, who acts as head of the family goes to the church looking for help.

In a few days a religious personifies himself and declares that the place is cursed and that possibly the devil himself is inhabiting it, corroborating the suspicions that the detectives had.

-An exorcism must be carried out - this is the sentence and for this purpose a courageous priest is present at the residence days later.

Then begins the struggle of David against Goliath, of the human against the supernatural and for several days the prayers, the holy water, the orders to leave the place are part of the complex act in which taking the word of Christ as a weapon, the bold and fervent priest tries to expel the evil spirit from there.

However, the forces faint, the darkness takes possession of the light and in an act as macabre as the one carried out by the woman when she slit her throat, the religious ends up taking his life with his body hanging from a rope on the second floor of the place.

The residents of the place after this flee in terror.

The details are very well hidden by the church and these do not come out the public light.

A decade later "Pepe" uses it as a deposit for his merchandise, which were lamps and textiles that he sells in his shop located near the place, so he blocks his windows.

More than one thief who manages to reach the courtyard with the intention of stealing leaves the place terrified and spreads the fact that it is a cursed house.

Several lustrums pass and already abandoned it is taken by groups of satan worshippers to make rituals, they assure that the evil being inhabits the place.

After being evicted by the authorities the place is abandoned and is not inhabited or taken by anyone.

The popular imaginary baptizes it as "The house of exorcism" and the stories about what happened there and what can happen to those who visit it are forked.

They say that in that house a girl fell from the balcony and her spirit wanders along with others or that passing through her forehead can be deadly because one of the entities that live there could take over the person who does it and cause this suicide or kill others.

La Morela, when almost two decades have passed since the year 2000, is still alone and abandoned and its macabre fame has passed from generations, so the most daring look at it from afar but do not try to enter.

Años 50, la actividad comercial y diversión de la ciudad de Maracaibo confluyen entre el llamado centro de la misma con sus mercados y los barrios populares Saladillo y Empedrao, así como también a lo largo de la Avenida El Milagro y sus clubes nocturnos, mientras que en el resto todo es calma o existen apenas brotes de esa fiebre propia de los habitantes de la ciudad.

En una casa situada cerca de la esquina del control y al fondo de la iglesia San José, muy cerca del cementerio el redondo, de construcción al estilo Art Deco, dos plantas, vistoso pórtico y de nombre “Morela” que rememora una ciudad mejicana o un nombre propio de ese país, vive una familia de buenos recursos económicos que se codea con la alta sociedad de ese entonces.

Una noche el alarido desgarrador de una de sus residentes taladra la oscuridad y lelna el ambiente de luto y sorpresa.

Una de sus habitantes se encuentra tirada en el piso en medio de un charco de sangre con su cabeza a centímetros de su cuerpo.

La calma deja de ser ingrediente principal.

La noticia del posible asesinato causa cierta conmoción pero Las pesquisas no llevan a encontrar los culpables de tal barbarie y aunque no lo divulgan creen que no existían y que la propia mujer haya realizado ese acto.

Desde ese momento vivir allí es hacerlo en un infierno, las noches son acompañadas por ruidos extraños y alaridos desgarradores, por lo que ante el fracaso policial, quien funge como cabeza de la familia se dirige a la iglesia buscando ayuda.

En pocos días un religioso se apersona y declara que el lugar está maldito y que posiblemente el propio demonio se encuentra habitándolo, corroborando las sospechas que tuvieron los detectives.

-Hay que realizar un exorcismo – es la sentencia y con ese fin un valiente sacerdote hace presencia en la residencia días después.

Comienza entonces la lucha de David contra Goliat, de lo humano contra lo sobrenatural y por varios días las oraciones, el agua bendita, las órdenes de salir del lugar forman parte del complejo acto en el cual tomando la palabra de Cristo como arma, el osado y ferviente cura intenta expulsar al espíritu maligno de allí.

Sin embargo las fuerzas desfallecen, la oscuridad toma posesión de la luz y en un acto tan macabro como el efectuado por la mujer al degollarse, el religioso termina quitándose la vida con su cuerpo colgado de una cuerda en el segundo piso del lugar.

Los residentes del lugar después de esto huyen despavoridos.

Los detalles son muy bien ocultados por la iglesia y estos no salen la luz pública.

Una década después “Pepe” la usa como depósito de su mercancía, que eran lámparas y textiles que vende en su negocio ubicado cerca del lugar, por lo que tapia sus ventanas.

Más de un ladronzuelo que logra alcanzar el patio con la intención de robar sale despavorido del lugar y se va extendiendo el hecho que es una casa maldita.

Varios lustros pasan y ya abandonada es tomada por grupos de adoradores de satanás para hacer rituales, ellos aseguran que el malvado ser habita el lugar.

Tras ser estos desalojados por las autoridades el lugar queda abandonado y no es habitado ni tomado por nadie.

El imaginario popular la bautiza como “La casa del exorcismo” y se bifurcan las historias sobre lo ocurrido allí y lo que le puede ocurrir a quien la visite.

Dicen que en esa casa una niña se cayó del balcón y su espíritu vaga junto a otros o que el pasar por su frente puede ser mortal ya que alguno de los entes que allí viven podría apoderarse de la persona que lo hace y provocar que este se suicide o mate a otras personas.

La Morela, cuando han pasado casi dos décadas después del año 2000 sigue sola y abandonada y su fama macabra ha pasado de generaciones, por lo que los más osados la miran de lejos pero no intentan entrar.
