Your home isn't just where you live! There are many other things that live there and a lot of the time it's because of human activity that they venture into our homes in the first place. Signs of certain creatures can be an indication of human activity so be mindful of this if you are attempting to be covert.
I saw this little guy going along my wall. I actually feel sorry for spiders that come into my home because there is nothing for them to eat here and they mostly die. I find some fairly big spider corpses two or three times a year.
I'm not sure what type of spider this is but it was only about 20-30mm including leg span. It had purple/reddish stripes down either side and broken black stripe down the centre of it's bulbous abdomen.
