Sega's Strange Football Manager RPG | A Video Essay I Made

in videoessay •  2 years ago  (edited)

I make Youtube gaming content, so thought I'd make this my first post on Steem.

Let’s Make A Soccer Team is a 2006 football management RPG for the PlayStation 2 published by SEGA, and developed by SmileBit. It was critically panned on release for being obtuse, vague, not really a “management” game, taking too long to get started and just being plain weird.

I’m here to tell you why the critics were only half-right, why the game is considered a cult classic, and how it relates to a small gaming forum, a Gran Turismo eSports driver, and a transgender furry Twitch streamer.

This is the story of SEGA’s strange PS2 football manager RPG.
