History Today: Viet Nam War Begins

On August 22, 1945, the Viet Nam conflict began. Ho Chi Minh led the coup against France. As reported by On This Day, after a successful coup d ' état, on 2 September 1945 Ho Chi Minh declared the independence of Viet Nam from France.

image The struggle to gain independence was not easy. France attacked the city of Haiphong in the North of Viet Nam to killing thousands of people.

As a reply to the attack, the Viet Minh attacked France in Hanoi on December 19, 1945. This event marked the beginning of the war of Indochina.

For eight years, Mao Zedong, Chinese leader helping the Viet Minh, while the United States helped France and Viet Nam antikomunis.

In 1954, France suffered a great defeat at Dien Bien Phu, Northwest of Viet Nam and began peace talks with the presence of Viet Nam. || REPUBLIKA.CO.ID
