In Memory - The Paddy Fields of My Village

Back in over 25 years ago, the place i was born was just a small village (now part of a big city).

Each family own a small paddy field. all these small fields place together in one big land and so we have a big paddy field.

Each big paddy field separate one village to another.

The image below was the road we build to connect from my village to the next village.

Back then, you can find these roads everywhere.

Behind the trees on the right side of the picture above was another road that i used everyday to went to school.

We come and check our paddy field every one or two day to make sure everything good. (useless grasses will grow if you don't check and remove them regularly, but the worst was the rats)

When the harvest time come, everyone came out on the field from early 5:30 AM in the morning to do the harvest. It was like Christmas here in U.S. You'll see hundreds of people everywhere, laughing, talking and working.

After the harvest, we burn our field and prepare for the next season.

And of course, these cows need to part of the story because they are everywhere.

Last is lotus fields. There are about over 3 of them in my village. The picture below was one that close to my aunt house.

Take a small wooden boat (back then, we only use these), rowing to the middle of the field and take a nap. It's the best experience i ever have.

Really nice! Vietnam is my favorite country. I was always curious about what the lives were like for the people who lived there. Thanks for sharing this.

What part of Vietnam is this? And what do you do if you have rats? How do you kill them?

I'm blogging about my ride through Vietnam, maybe I passed by your village/city.

Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing
