The murder rate in this country have been generally falling since the early 90s. There's no correlation with the assault weapons ban. There's no correlation with stop and frisk of which I'm aware. Still, in 2020, there was a sharp increase in the murder rate.
There are a lot of potential reasons. People being frustrated by the lockdowns is surely a component. Still, research has shown that most violent criminals reason themselves into their actions.
What is a reason that is almost universally regarded as justification for violence,? Well, it's when people are acting violently toward you and you're defending yourself.
If silence is violence, then you can reason your way into killing a person for not speaking. If speech is violence, you can reason yourself into killing a person for speaking. If microaggressions are a thing, you can reason yourself into killing a person for asking you where you're from.
These are ideas that are being supported in colleges. Disney is pushing this bullshit. Millions of people are broadening the definitions of "violence" and "aggression" and we're pretending to be surprised when more people end up murdered.
