Free Thought

For the record I am a fan of Kanye's music. I wouldn't call myself an avid one but I recognize a great artist when I see one. Those dark tones, heavy drums, and raw lyrics make for some of the best music on the planet. But I did not post this to brag on Kanye's musical genius. I am here to simply discuss his words that made the internet spaz out last week.

I am usually not one to get all caught up in TMZ but when I hear a black man in America say slavery "sounds like a choice" it's not something that sits well. However after listening to the full interview I understand more of what Kanye was trying to say. Take a listen and tell me your thoughts on what Mr. West had to say about this. Peace.

Do you agree with saying whatever comes to your mind?

Kanye West is an unusual and talented person. His lyrics are full of meaning and they can literally "blow your mind". In addition, he is not afraid to say what he thinks. Yes, he is a brave and intelligent parer who achieved his success.

These words he said about the slavery of the blacks were not perceived correctly. Many people hearing this is not properly perceived. The essence of his words was in free-thinking! he argued that black people should free their minds. African Americans are harassed by the psychological consequences of slavery. He urged everyone to get rid of this. I think these are strong words

But remember slave masters were also free thinking and that was at the expense of other people. I'm all for thinking but not if it harms others

You're right! in the history of mankind there have always been people who assert themselves at the expense of other people. There were always people who felt good at the time when other people were suffering. The keyword "were". I consider slavery to be a shame. This is a black page in the story that will always be remembered.

Although financial slavery still exists. Alas

@humanearl, Exactly I didn't heard Kanye's music before and can't get any imagine for his music. But I'm big fan of music. I most like to hear chinese meditation musics. Also probably rock music. I want only music if i want to be relaxation.

Yeah Kanye is rap music.

Oh rap musics...I prefer to listen reggae's rap songs.

@humanearl,
Actually I didn't listen his music before! But I think now I need to give a try!

Cheers~

He actually has great music. I like his older alums though

Some time they just don't even care what they say damn

Hello!
I agree with you Kanye West is really the king of hip-hop. I think that his music with sonorous and juicy sounds and basses does not pass by the ears of any person. The lyrics are always sonorous and raw, it's very cool - and it's true.

My favorite part of his music is the music production part of it.

I am a not fan of Kanye's music. Also didn't heard yet what kind of Music using him. But I think he's music wanna awesome.

This particular comment have been hitting the net and every where else. I haven't actually listen to the full talk but I think I get what he was trying to say.

Do you agree with saying whatever comes to your mind?

I think it is the best of idea to say whatever comes to mind. You must consider what others feel about what you wanna say. Control is very important to us humans and we must make conscious effort to think before talking.

Yea I get it too but he could've done a much better job at explaining that. It came off all wrong.

I totally agree with you on your opinion, Kanye West is a king of hip hop and his words { Lyrics } are always thick with deep thoughts not some watery lyrics, you have a good taste for music my friend

Kanye West words was taken out of context, what he was trying to say was that freedom and slavery is a thing of the mind, that you decide where you belong if you believe you are still a slave then it is your personal mindset. I don't see any retrogressive words in his statement is just that he was miss understood

Right he said sounded like and plus I get what he meant. But you first must know you are slave in order to want freedom. Some were so mentally blocked in their minds so slavery was all they knew for many of them.

I love kanye and the way he rock and pop. He is a awesome rapper, respect his lyrics and his music. I love when he sing and his voice is inspiration for me.
Bless up my man !

He's a great artist no doubt.

Kanye It seems I may be the only black person that understands what you were trying to say in a sense. For example I remember seeing an old slavery photo of two black slaves standing near an open fence and the whites were leaving on a horse and carriage. I remember looking at the photo and thinking why not just leave. I know so many will say because they would kill them. But I know if I were in those times I would have been one of the ones taking a chance to escape. It was a mind thing, they used fear to control which is what they are trying to do now with all these recent cop killings and them not really facing any consequences for their murders! and these recent hangings that's been happening to blacks! So I understand what he was trying to say! In a sense it was a choice I get it Kanye 400years and as many of us as their was you'd think us blacks could have come together and got away from that before 400 years.

It's easy to say that though because you know what freedom is. So because you know freedom you can look back and say that but as slaves all many knew was slavery. So for us who are free it sounds like a no brainer to just get up and leave. But you're talking about mental enslavement to the point that the slave is not even aware he is a slave anymore.

But I get what Kanye was trying to say. Also what we have to understand is that many blacks did escape and some tried to escape. Once we were free we were then told by law where we could and couldn;t go. There's so much mental trauma it;s hard to tell a person in that state to just not be mentally enslaved. There has to be therapy don in order to help break those walls down. And the sad thing is that many black people now don't even want to get therapy and help cope with all the trauma that has been passed down.

I listened to it and i feel Kanye might have been taken out of context but still the words are volatile to have been uttered that way. And his pledging support for Donald Trump speaks volumes

Right I get what he meant. And him supporting trump is just fuel to the fire.

when you hear about slavery for 400 years, that sounds like a choice" he is not saying slavery is a choice but the talking about slavery in modern day even though is was only for 250 years and stopped 150 years ago. you're not a victim because something happens to somebody 150 years ago and that person looks a bit like you. This entire controversy is only to put Kanye away as your standard ism/foob so that people wont listen to his message of thinking for yourself.

Yes I pointed that out in the video specifically. He said sounded like. Well thinking for yourself is not a bad thing until it harms others. The slave masters thought for themselves too and look what happened.

The man had a point when the meteor do not cover black people marching against black people who killing their own people don't get covered in the news but when a white man or white police officer kill a black person is all over the news because that's more exciting for them then to see that the black community is trying to work hard at saving their black kids and black men. A lot of white people like with Kanye saying because they know it's against the black community and Candace as well when they learn the facts then they need to talk about the facts and not speculate the facts.

But also what is not being covered is the good work that people are doing trying to solve those issues. When a white cop kills a black person it's a major issue. Mainly because officers swear to serve and protect not gun people down like animals. We pay cops to serve us not kill us.

This is a post that is inevitable for the truth.

TMZ give us all a break. Please. Black people will always bring up slavery because they support the political party that brought slavery to America. Kanye meant that if black people still believe, in today's world, that they are slaves then it's their own damn fault. Slavery was abolished over 150 years ago. It's funny how blacks want statues and memorials honoring those evil democrats torn down but they don't want us "privileged whites" to forget about slavery. You can't have both. Either you get over it or you don't. Blacks still support democrats because they love the Government assistance they reap from that political party. Democrats are not stupid. If you can't enslave someone in chains then enslave them in poverty.

I have no affiliation with any political party and many of us don;t claim anything. Whichever political party one chooses don't change historical facts that still impact millions of people. Slavery by law was abolished 150 Years ago but you must know about Jim Crow laws, 13th amendment which basically ok'd enslaving black people again through the prison system, mental trauma, civil rights, etc. These are facts and they still have major impact on people's lives. It's hard to know what that's like if that is not your history or heritage as it pertains to the U.S.

As far as statues. Ummm. That's like telling Jews to get over the holocaust. Also tell Jews to get over having Hitler statues posted up if you want to go there. This is why Germany tore those statues down because it represented the inhumane treatment of human beings and a perverted ideology.

You can;t paint all black people the same. Many vote out of ignorance but many are well aware at the same time.

Is it true.i cannot think that it is true

Kanyes music is really adorable. I am became a fan of kaney.

this is great investing sir and thanks for sharing this, this is something new to me.

To be honest I couldn't believe the words coming out of Kanye's mouth I mean how could he say it was a choice when there was certainly no choice. Loved how one employee confronted him and told him straight that his words were wrong. This is why a diverse staff can have affect of ethnic racism

Exactly and the sad part is that stuff goes on like this all the time and many don;t stand up and confront it.
