Vlog #60-Something: Why I'm bullish about the BULLS*** on Steemit. A Vlog Inspired by @nanzo-scoope & @uwelang.

in vlog •  7 years ago

Yesterday I had the chance to share a few comments back n forth with some very chill people @nanzo-scoop & @uwelang. After our little chat I was inspired to sit down and make a video about some of the things on going on.

Things I'm Keepin it Real About Are;

Minnows,Dolphins & Whales, is that who we we really are?
Why are you here? For Friends or for Money? And why choosing one makes the difference.
Are we in a Eco system or an Economics System?[ If that make sense].
Classes.
Changing the mentality of the everyday Steemit User.

Hey - I'm glad to hear our conversation inspired this post and thanks for the shout out!

I too would like people to move away from the "fish" terminology. I think people disempower themselves when refer to themselves as "minnows".

Firstly, the fact is a persons SP does not say everything about their financial status:

Some "whales" are operating at a loss in terms of how much they have invested in Steem. Also a persons wallet doesn't tell the story of how they got the funds their in the first place (e.g. loans, re-mortgage houses etc.). Some people that are whales have literally beat the farm on Steem. While for others their large stake in Steem is throwaway money.

On the flipside there are a large pool of "minnows" to whom any money earned on Steemit means a great deal. However there are others (e.g. like @rogerkver) who are SP minnows off the platform probably have more wealth than any whale on Steemit.

As you say, there are different "classes" of both whales and minnows, so much so as to make the terms meaningless.

Secondly, I think the better distinction (as you allude to) is between Investors and Content Creators (and you have some "Investor-Content Creator").

Over a year ago I wrote a post about the power of the Content Creators on platforms like this. I'd suggest anyone who is a Content Creator read it. If I could "pin" a post, I'd probably pin this one:-

If you are a Content Creator you should never sell yourself short in the face of an Investor. Whether it is on Steemit or anywhere else. Steem/ Steemit is not the endgame for your creativity and passion. If anything getting drawn into the "drama" and bullshit is often a distraction. Steem/ Steemit is the beginning of a new shift in how Content Creators can monetise their efforts.

The battle is as much for Steem/ Steemit to retain the best Creative Talent as it is for those talent to try to get recognised and rewarded on this platform. Because ultimately where the quality Content Creators end up will determine which blockchain based social media site will triumph.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Maybe one day would could do a video chat ( discussing steemit related things) maybe even have a few other people join and record it/post it. I think constructive conversations need to happen more often. Or at the very least do some response videos to peoples vlogs or post. thumbs up Thanks for taking the time to drop knowledge. I appreciate it to the max.

You're welcome. Sure we can do a chat/ collabo, no problem.

sent a msg over steemit chat. hopefully you have the same name there, but just in case you don't. Do use use steemit.chat & if so what is your handle. Thx!
