Good point expressed in #1.

In fact, the other day, I was watching a discussion where the pundits declared that it does not matter if the system is "democratic" or "socialist" or "capitalist" or whatever.

What matters is ... does the system work, productively and efficiently, for the benefit of the society and those who comprise it? If it works well, it doesn't matter what it's called.

Permit me to share this on Facebook. It is a striking point, I must confess. The unfortunate thing here is that democracy is the system adopted by the West and it is being imposed on the rest of the world. Democracy, surely, has its merits but it appears to be unsuitable for developing societies where the literacy level is still quite low. I stand to be corrected, anyway.
