A reflection of myself and why I sing.

I've had a lot of people ask why my dream was to sing. Most just think it's for the fame and glory that could accompany it, but being a very young girl when I decided my dream, this was not the case.

This is my dad and I in 1985. I was only two but he planted the musical seed in my life at birth. He was my first inspiration and is still my strongest. He played guitar and sang for me my whole life.

As I grew, so too did my love of music. My dad started me on his favorites like Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Lynard Skynyrd, and so on. But being a teen in the 90's, my love grew for music that was raw and had the feelings of my generation in it. My favorite band is Alice In Chains. But it wasn't until my early 20's that I decided to actually do something to achieve my goal.

I always wanted to sing because of the feelings I got when listening to others. The lyrics, the meaning behind the song, and the power to help others through only words. I longed to have others find some solace in my words and music.

So I learned how to play guitar and started my journey to my dreams! As a vocalist, I want others to feel the emotion I put in my music and lyrics. I want them to feel the joy, the heartbreak, the pain. I write, and rewrite, and write again to get it. Not only in the words but in the notes as well. That connection you get when you see live music is like no other drug on this planet. And I want to give that to as many people as possible.

I love a wide variety of music and I've been in a few very different bands. But my main band at the moment is Sacrifice The Truth. We are a hard rock/metal band. I also do solo acoustic music as well. I love them both individually for what I can bring to the two different types of music. My solo stuff is more emotional and connecting while my band is where I release some demons and my inner rockstar! With my solo music, I try to be mellow and melodic. With my band I'm more grungy and aggressive.

I hope you've enjoyed the story of my journey. If you did, please check out my other stuff. I'm usually adding more songs for the Open Mic contests and sharing other music from my band as well! ☮

Loved getting insights into who you are. My Father was a musician and played several instruments and sang. He was my inspiration, and taught me how to play. We ended up playing together eventually.

Rock On \m/

Awesome! I play music with my dad a little but he's been battling cancer for a few years so I don't get to do it as much anymore. When I was 15, I moved to Missouri and found out that most of my dad's family were musicians as well! And thanks for reading!

Wow, beautifully written and so much incredible energy! Enjoyed reading your story, it is inspiring and rings truth. Your voice is lovely, and it's wonderful passion! This is a fantastic entry for CENTER STAGE next week. @Vocalists-Trail wishes you all the best in the coming days ahead and will re-steem and up-vote this post! Good Luck :)

That's great that your dad played guitar and sang while you were growing up.

It most definitely is! Thank you for reading!
