I become ecstatic for the day
the maw takes form
wraps it's shape shifting teeth around my body
presses deeply down despite my protests
and blood bursts forth out of a dam above a town
as onlookers stare in awe
On that day, my faith will be rewarded
with the unfathomable
hope will become a trumpet blast that shatters my marrow
there will be no respite
I will know the onlookers intimately
and curse every joy
until the maw pulls enough of my experience apart
that I come out the other side
into the arms of my true home
