The first novel in a brand new read kissmanga series called The Rise of the Volcano Queen is out now from Yen On Media. This eight hundred-page high-school science fiction/fantasy epic is written by Randa Jarrar and drawn by Natsuya Hashimoto. In this book the fantasy world of Vigrid is destroyed when a volcano erupts, leaving behind a mountain of molten rock that has risen up to consume the world. Only six people survive who are nearly buried under the ash and stone.
Meet Lila, a sixteen-year-old girl who lives in the city of Ylisstiff on the eastern coast of the continent Boadhagh. She is a shy girl who doesn't socialize much, preferring to stay inside her room playing computer games. One day she gets a visit from her Uncle Darian, who tells her he's bringing a girl back from the cute manga series. She greets him in her usual shy manner, but his warm welcome causes her heart to race as he tells her he loves her and wants to show her the world. Lila must learn to cope with her feelings of loneliness while learning to embrace the beauty around her as her world is destroyed.
Lila's Uncle is a powerful mage who wields the element of fire. After hearing about how Lila ran away from home when her father was killed by a mysterious swordsman, he comes to seek her out and asks her to join his magical army. He then forces her to become his student, and teaches her everything he knows about fighting magic and destroying enemies. With his help she is able to defeat the evil Thanagar, a powerful sorceress, and protect the city of Ylisstiff from being attacked by the dragons. As the girl starts to feel more comfortable with her Uncle, he teaches her many different magic forms such as a spear that can pierce through a hundred feet, telekinesis, and the ability to heal others.
The story is told from the point of view of Lila as she tries to understand the circumstances around her and how she fits into the world her family lives in. What makes her unique is the way she sees the world beginning after the end, how she sees people and how they should be treated, and how she deals with the loneliness that comes with growing up. Through her adventures she learns that there is life after death and that she can also have a family of her own. This part of her life is shown to be what most readers want to discover as they grow up, since she grows up surrounded by love, friends, and pets, who all help her through her time on Earth.
The second part of the manga series focuses on Lila as she attempts to adjust to her new life and to find herself a good place to live among other magical beings. Unlike the first few parts where she is a loner, this time she begins to form relationships with other girls whom she meets in class. The girl she eventually names Riko is one of her closest friends and they have been best friends ever since grade school days. When they realize that their bodies are really nothing alike, they begin to spend a lot of time together working on their likenesss which makes them both happy. As the relationship between them continues, they learn more about each other and continue building their friendship even more.
With the death of Riko's best friend, Mina, she has to adjust to life alone. Although she has great friends, she also realizes that she cannot trust anyone around her since she herself is not totally honest. In order to move on and find a place for herself among other magical beings, she starts to attend church and also spends time with the girl she was just friends with. Her new friend is named Ai, and the two start to date. Although it is hard for Lila to open up to Ai about her past as well as her fears, the two quickly get to know each other and fall in love.
The third part focuses on Lila and Ai's pregnancy and the changes that come over her body during and after giving birth to Chiaki. While Chiaki tries to keep his distance from Lila due to his fear of hurting her, the two girls bond quickly and Lila finds out what it feels like to have children. Shortly after giving birth, they find themselves pregnant once again, this time with a boy. Although this does not faze Lila, she does not tell her parents because she knows that her friends will cry if they knew about her secret.
Overall, the manga series has received praises from many readers who have reviewed the series. This is because the story is cute, interesting, and fast-moving. Readers who love fantasy romance anime will enjoy reading about Lila and her friends living an idyllic life surrounded by mystical creatures and environments. Readers can look forward to more urban immortal cultivator island adventures in the future volumes of the series.
