The Nazirite vow in ancient times was a form of spiritual consecration to the Lord described in the book of Numbers: "This is the law of the Nazirite who vows offerings to the LORD in accordance with their dedication, in addition to whatever else they can afford" Numbers 6:21. The Nazirites, as consecrated, had special obligations such as not drinking alcoholic beverages, not cutting their hair, or being in contact with anything that was impure.
The Nazirite was different from the priesthood, because the Nazirite had no obligations regarding the maintenance of the religious cult or the temple, a Nazirite was not an intermediary between God and man, the Nazirites were fundamentally devoted to the Lord, and were dedicated to the Lord for the accomplishment of a particular promise or task. The spiritual consecration was already established in the old covenant by Moses: "I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy" Leviticus 11:44.
In the Bible, there were many Nazirites like John the Baptist: "He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born" Luke 1:15. This suggests that some Nazirites could be declared such even in their mother's womb, as was also the case with the prophet Samuel: "And she made a vow, saying, ´LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your servant's misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head" 1 Samuel 1:11.
We do not know for sure if Jesus was a Nazirite, the Bible is silent on this subject, what the Bible tells us is that Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit. The Nazirite was in ancient times an important practice, which Christianity did not continue.
