Response to Fortune(and everyone else's) gaslighting over "quiet quitting".

This came up over on the centralized platform with yet another article ranting about this, but figured I'd repost here as well:

The term 'quiet quitting' is nothing but gaslighting. It's not quitting, it's doing the job you're paid to do. Calling it quiet quitting is just a blatant attempt to bully people into doing work for free since they can't fire people for sticking to their job description.

It's a 'have your cake and eat it too' situation. They want to pay an hourly rate since it's lower and you don't have to pay for hours that aren't worked, but they want people to work as if they have a salary, always on call and work till it's done no matter how long it takes.

Raise your hand if you get paid hourly and have your pay cut if you don't use all your hours, but the job still calls it a 'salary' and talks as if you're getting paid x amount a year.
