A few days ago, my youngest kid didn't want to fall asleep really, so I had to stay up and walk around for a long time before finally managing to make the kid sleep. I don't fear such stuff, because I normally use it as an excuse to watch some great TV shows and other content online, and that is what happened this time as well. So, what did I do? I watched a brand new Netflix "show" in which Brene Brown talks about Vulnerability in what is called: Brene Brown - The Call to Courage.
But, what is it all about? Well, I hadn't heard about Brene Brown before watching this, but I was intrigued by just listening to the short preview on Netflix, and that is why I decided to watch it this evening. But, I have understood since then that Brene Brown is a big authority on the topic of vulnerability, and this is why.
Vulnerability as a key to success
She is very right about how she is dealing with the topic. How come? If you fear making yourself vulnerable, you will never dare to step into success. How come? To reach success, you will need to take steps of faith and take risks. And do you know which word could work as a synonym to risk? Vulnerability!
If you take a risk, you might end up with failure, and that makes you vulnerable. But, is it dangerous? Of course, if you fear failure and want to keep your outer appearance always look perfect, then you will not dare to step out into the uncertain, and instead, you will stay at one point and miss out on both the adventure, the risk, the success, the failure - everything!
But, if you dare to become vulnerable, if you dare to take those chances, and if you dare to take some steps that might cause you to fall, you will also step onto a path that might take you in the direction of success.
Vulnerability in my own life
I remember once I wanted to teach a language to private students. At that time, I didn't have much money to pay with, so buying the books I needed for a price of around 80 Euro felt like a lot and I actually took a great risk. Maybe it would turn into failure as I never would be able to teach and I wouldn't find private students...
Well, I took the risk, and I ended up getting way too many students. After a few years, I had to stop it all as I didn't have more time for the job, but I took the risk, I turned vulnerable, and that was a way to success.
Brene Brown on Netflix - worth watching?
I am really happy about content like this coming to Netflix as well. There is so much to learn from content like this, and it makes Netflix to much more than just a place you go to get entertained, it also makes Netflix a place where you can grow and learn and develop your own character. I really liked it, and even though you might not enjoy it, I can clearly give this a 9/10 score... In fact, I am happy my kid kept me awake, because if not, I could have ended up not watching the show at all.
