Wacoinda vs Wakanda?

Interesting concept, however, I don’t get the correlation!

Wakanda

The buzz going around in all the crypto news spaces is that Big Bad Marvel Characters, a subsidiary of Disney, has filed for an extension to investigate whether or not they will oppose the trademark application submitted for the name Wacoinda. Wacoinda… Wakanda… why so much excitement??? Let’s dig a little deeper.

Marvel Characters is the creator of Black Panther, a mythical King with supernatural abilities who happens to hail from a hidden nation on the continent of Africa… Wakanda. According to a Time Magazine article published in March 2018, the movie grossed a whopping $1.1B worldwide in revenue. “The Disney release grossed $27 million in ticket sales over the weekend, according to studio estimates, pushing its domestic haul to $605.4 million. Worldwide, “Black Panther” has grossed more than $1.1 billion.” This fete destroyed all previous Marvel blockbuster statistics. The movie was the first ever put forth by Disney to consist of an “all black cast”... well save a handful of characters. Remember that point for later…

Many Diasporic Africans showed up to theatres across the globe to experience this precedent release. Scores of movie goers paid premium ticket prices to attend fan club premiere viewings, red (purple) carpet events and even bought out entire movie houses to ensure that low income children and families did not miss out on such a grand occasion!

Wacoinda

While all of this fanfare was going on, cryptocurrency and blockchain technology were making strides as a new economic alternative. As with most social advancements, the black community was once again on the brink of being left behind. Visionaries Lafe Taylor and Lamar Wilson identified the deficit and together with a few of their cohorts decided to take up the mantel and DO something about it! They formed a Facebook community called The Black Coin Group that soon after morphed into what is now lovingly known as Wacoinda.

The group has dared to establish a mission to Eradicate Economic Oppression. The Modus operandi is by way of providing educational sessions that enhance: financial literacy, cryptocurrency economic alternatives, blockchain technology, business development, group economics, legislative analysis, investment strategies and so much more. These online classes are presented on a peer to peer basis for Wacoindans by Wacoindans.

The focus of the mission is based on love and unity. The mantra states that through Patient Consistent Togetherness Wacoinda will successfully achieve its intended end. To date, founders Lafe and Lamar have extended “The Wacoinda Way” outside of the boundaries of Facebook. They have hosted community events geared towards teaching blockchain technology and coding to youth groups. They have even served as panelists during the 2018 Wakandacon Conference held in Chicago, Illinois. All of these accomplishments were achieved in an effort to level the playing field.

Wacoinda with Wakanda!

With the background of these two entities laid out before us, it seems logical for the powerful corporation to join forces with the Small Minority Owned Business Start-Up. This would be an excellent opportunity for Disney to give back to the very community that contributed to Black Panther’s success by directing millions of its $1.3T consumer budget towards supporting the movie. Give back by an economically substantive means. Not just your typical pacifying insignificant manner of giving back… but TRUE reciprocity that will finally allow the uplifting of an oppressed people through the education of financial and economical strategies long since practiced by the oppressive class!

What say you Disney? Do we have a deal?
