Africa's present population is estimated at over 780 million. This population is spread over the continent's total area of 30,300,000 sq km. This population shows an average density of nearly 15 persons per km2 . This is a very sparse population density compared to other continents, eg UK alone has a population density of 225 persons per km 2.
