Caru Aber Mural, Aberystwyth - 17 February 2025

in wales •  yesterday

Despite the gloomy weather on Saturday I enjoyed my brief visit to a coastal town called Aberystwyth in Wales.

My friend and I were curious to see the beach on such a gloomy and overcast day so we parked the car in a supermarket car park about 10 minutes away from the sea front. On the way back afterwards we happened to see this bright and colourful mural on the side of a building. The mural really stood out so I took a couple of photos of it and decided to find more information about it later.

That was the colour of the sky; it was overcast and drizzly.

Because of the weather and having to walk back to get the car I didn’t get close enough to see the small white writing probably giving further information on the mural. Thanks to Google Lens I managed to identify the company that painted the mural and even found a You Tube video showing the painting process.

I was also able to find the website of the company that painted the mural here where I read the ‘about page' giving details of how the family moved to Wales from England and bought a small zoo. I will definitely try and visit that as it’s now more of an animal sanctuary rather than a ‘zoo’.

I also managed to read further information about the painting in an online article here from August 2021 :

On Thursday morning, Dean Tweedy of Marvellous Murals officially unveiled a mural reading “Caru Aber” and Aberystwyth Pier in background painted on a wall next to Talbot Garage, Eastgate. It’s all painted freehand, no spray paint or stencils, and took 7 days to complete.

Aberystwyth was certainly very interesting despite all the damp and drizzle.

That’s one of the photos I took of the sea front. It was natural sepia colour and I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere a lot.
