Places To See In NY: Seneca Lake State Park

in walkwithme •  7 years ago

Seneca Lake is the largest of the Finger Lakes in NY, at thirty eight miles long and up to more than six hundred feet deep. At its Northern most end is Geneva NY and the beautiful park that is its namesake.

The day I went started out sunny, but gradually the clouds rolled in and the wind picked up. I hope you enjoy this 'walk with me'- they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so hopefully this film role makes up for the lack of actual words.

Enjoy!

Can you swim in it? How cold is it?
How cute is that gazebo on the beach :)

Not at this time of year, but once it's been warm for a few weeks you can- it's the same lake I grew up on, and I spent all summer in it- though I can't say it's ever actually warm.

Love gazebos ;)

Ohmygosh the gazebo! (I have an unnatural fondness for gazebos)Right there on the water, I would live in it and growl at all others encroaching upon my territory.

A bear guarding its cubs growl? Or a spine chilling mountain lion growl? Hee, I feel the exact same way, one day when we buy a piece of land and build on it, a gazebo will be a necessity ;)

Hmmm... Mountain lion. XD

Yes indeed the pictures spoke the words :0)

Wow that is one big lake! I bet it gets pretty wild out there in a boat once that wind kicks up, I could see the whitecaps in a couple of the photos.

I really loved this shot, beautiful lines and the windblown trees are so pretty...

Natural place always calm you and give you pure source of enjoyment. Nice to see greenery every where amazing place for picnic I guess. Thanks for sharing @dreemit

Thank you, dear @dreemit, for sharing your serene walk with us. Nature pictures are wordless eloquence :)

I used to think that every state in the US was like a different country (and state of mind). But, now, I'm seeing that, even within every state there are treasures to discover.

Which is to say, in my many visits to NY, I thought I knew it... But, never been (or sad to admit, heard of) Seneca Lake State Park :o I appreciate your taking us there, my friend.

To return the favor, I invite you to visit Arizona, through the fine eyes of my wife's aunt who lives there. _/|\_

Seneca Lake never gets old. One day I will get a chance to take a whiff of that same air as my sis does!

If you can know where this photo is loaded. the place is very beautiful and very natural. i really like a place like this.
