Heavy Snow Today

Not only was it snowing heavily, it was the kind of snow that weighs a million pounds. The snow that is backbreaking to shovel. The kind from our childhood when it would take 10 kids to push the bottom piece of the Snow Man. The one that makes snowballs leave bruises...

The Day Started Mild Enough

Smokie strutting his stuff in the morning. The weather was fairly warm and a little rain was just beginning.

Thin layer of ice on the cove.

Edgar (our new mousing cat) came out of hiding (sort of).

Instead of hiding in the basement, @Hendrix22 managed to lure her out of hiding with some cat treats. She's letting us pet her now and loves the attention. I tried a couple times to get her upstairs, but she's not having any of that yet. Tomorrow hopefully! She's sure come a long way from this morning <3 I think we're going to get along splendidly.

Bad photos again though, this time it's because it's too dim down there and I didn't want to use my flash, the bottom pic looks like she has a 3rd eye (okay and a 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th eye, basically she looks arachnid-esque) but I like the Buddha theme better so we're gonna ignore all of those other extra eyes.

The Heavy Snow

This is branch breaking shit right here I tell ya...

The tire swing is touching the ground, that should say it all.

Behind the trunk you can see a branch completely on the ground. Don't ask why I didn't photograph it from the other side LOL.

Got the other side of the tire swing though (even though it serves no purpose) BOOM.

The Old Man's Beard looks amazing with snow clinging to it.

Actually, everything looks better in the snow. I love Nova Scotia because we don't get too much winter, and the snow always melts super fast, so it doesn't get dreary and life-taking. In other parts of Canada that I have lived, the white stuff is there for the better part of a year. I will never go back to a cold climate again. It's this, or a warmer place, for me for the rest of my life.

Is it snowing again? I thought it was over already. But it's good it doesn't last so there won't be much cold. It's hot as hell over here though it showered this morning. It's simply frustrating.

Hey @lyndsaybowes you have the snow back!! :D It's back to rain and drizzle over here but I'm told to expect at least one more blast of winter. I'm loving the pictures of the cove, it's amazing how quickly your weather can change. Like yourself I keep being given a tantalising glimpse of spring, only to have it cruelly snatched away. Hope you have a brilliant weekend ahead of you my friend. I'm staying near the moors and just heading out for a foggy walk. :D

Awe! Looks like a nice day on the east coast. It was snowing again today here too. I got to the mountains today!! First time since the beginning of last July. But, it was so misty we couldn't even see a mountain!! Here's to hoping miss kitty comes around 🖤🐱 .... get mr. Mouse!! 🐁

I think the trees will be fine, they are most of 100 years old. I don't think we will get fruit. The deer and bear will be disappointed, but we just eat it as novelty treats. So do the critters, really. We will all survive, I think... I hope!

@lyndsaybowes, Very bad to hear heavy snow condition. But created glorious decorations to photo clicks. I prefer to see every clicks of winter coz I've never experience. Cove seems freezy and silent. Whole background have been silence. Snow on the trees, on the floor. Big Smokie wake up early and ready to go outside.

The Cove is so beautiful! I love the snow, and totally remember the heavy, back-breaking stuff though. I'm with you; I'll never go back to a place that has tough winters...been there, done that.

Nice cat pictures haha I missed it, but where did she come from? She's really cute and I love that she's warming up to you guys. I guess a photo flash would have sent that progress back some hey? :) And of course, a cool pic of Smokie...chest puffed out, surveying his land!

Thank you so much for enjoying the shots today Lynn! Edgar came from a neighbour, she's a very good mouse hunter apparently, she's ours if she wants to be, but we can give her back too if it's not working out. One hell of a deal if you ask me!

She's also "highway savvy" as well and that is the main reason why we even have a cat right now. We have always had cats, but when we moved into this place ours got hit by a vehicle and we swore we'd never have a cat again in this house. I know we could do the 'indoor cat' thing, but I have a problem with keeping things locked up as you can see with our chickens hahaha. Though soon they will have to be locked up when we plant our seeds, and I always cave and let them out in the evening only to be chasing them around with pool noodles trying to get them out of my gardens lol!!

Best cat deal ever ! I grew up on a farm, so I understand cats and "highway savvy"; a lot of our weren't...a tough thing to witness fairly regularly as a kid. Perhaps that's one of the reasons I'm such an animal lover now!

Yes, I see your aversion to "locking things up" haha Your chickens have a good life! And I'm dying here laughing because I can so picture you, all crazy yelling, swinging a pool noodle around haha
